From: ChrisBrancato
Hey everyone.
Just got back from a long, much-needed vacation. I understand the final episode was broadcast last Saturday. I
just want to thank you all for having been the best fans a show could have. Through many a workday, and night,
your loyalty and interest spurred us on. It's a shame we couldn't continue - given the fact that the SciFi channel
is extremely pleased with our ratings.
They also tell me that FW will air Monday thru Friday, all sixty six episodes, starting Jan. 2002. At least we'll
have reruns.
Thanks again, everyone. It's been a helluva ride.

Although First Wave Production ended in December 2000, none of the principles (producers,
writers, cast) knew there wouldn't be a fourth season until June 2001.
First Wave finished airing in the U.S. on September 15, 2001.
A "Thanks For Your Support"
message from actor Sebastian Spence, posted to the Sci-Fi First Wave fan board by Cyberbjxx. In the event you don't
believe this message, the reference link is here.
Topic: ***MESSAGE FROM SEBASTIAN***
Date: 09/13/2001
From: CyberBJXX
To the fans of First Wave:
I apologize for the tardiness of this note. Deep down I think I was waiting for season four to start, and it’s
been the lack of me accepting the show’s fate that kept me silent. I’ve never adequately stated how much all the
fans’ support of the show has meant to me, and to that end I say this to all of you:
My deepest appreciation for all of the support, kind letters, and heart that I have felt from all of the First
Wave fans for the past three years. There were times when the fans, and only the fans, inspired me to keep putting
my heart and soul into this project.
You’re as much a part of Cade Foster as I am. Cade Foster was a labor of love to me, made more special by the way
it touched so many. I wish I could individually thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. I
hope this small note is enough.
I still dream the story continues. That my alter ego (Cade Foster) is out there still protecting what is good in
all of us. Keep dreaming and imagining and always believe the unbelievable.
My heart goes out to all those that have been touched by the recent horrors. My deepest thoughts and prayers are
with everyone.

FIRST WAVE SEASON
4 RENEWAL STATUS
No Fourth Season
First Wave cancelled prior to end of Sci-Fi airing First Wave Season 3

Hey everyone,
Sorry I've been off the board for awhile. I just received news from Larry Sugar that Pearson has failed to continue
the series. It looks like we are dead.
The time it took "the powers that be" to reach this decision is a testament to the dedicated fans of
FW. Through your efforts, a megabillion dollar company was made aware that its shows actually provide enjoyment
for real human beings. And still the numbers just didn't add up.
I've had a wonderful three years, a large part of that enjoyment derived from reading this board and reading your
comments. You are the best fans in science fiction. I am now onto a new show, created with Bert Salke, for the
F/X Channel. It is called "Dope." It's non-scifi, but I hope you'll watch.

SCI-FI PRE-EMPTS FIRST WAVE FOR MAY
and JUNE 2001
(From the Sci-Fi Official First Wave Site)
A Note About The First Wave Schedule
We've received many questions about why First Wave is not on SCI FI's schedule for May or June. We pre-empted First
Wave in May and June because if we didn't it would be running against sweeps competition on other networks and
it would not have the support of airing with other SCI FI original series. By holding First Wave until July 14
we can relaunch it as part of our new saturdayPRIME lineup where it will run alongside two other SCI FI original
series, which is better from both a programming and marketing perspective. So taking First Wave off the schedule
now is a way of ensuring that it will receive the strongest support possible when we bring it back in July.
Thank you for your continued support.

Rittenhouse Archives is pleased to announce that it has signed new trading card licenses for Star Trek as well
as for the SCI FI Channel hit series First Wave. For Star Trek, Rittenhouse will produce a high-end cards series
entitled "The Women of Star Trek: Voyager" in May to coincide with the final episodes of the show's 7-year
run, followed by an all-lenticular set (2-1/2"x3-1/2" cards, by popular demand -- no more oversized lenticulars)
based on the Star Trek: The Original Series that will coincide with that show's 35th anniversary in September.
More plans for Star Trek will be announced in the weeks and months ahead.
For First Wave, Rittenhouse will issue a 6-card Preview set, limited to only 2001 sets, in February. Plans for

Cinescape Insiders Newsletter #43
INSIDER OVERHEARD: FIRST WAVE SEASON THREE PREVIEW
When it premiered on the SCI FI Channel in March of 1999, First Wave didn't exactly generate a tsunami of interest.
The dark science fiction series was more notable for its pedigree (one of the executive producers is Godfather/Apocalypse
Now auteur Francis Ford Coppola) than its tried-and-true premise (the old "aliens are
among us" idea sci-fi fans have seen so often). But over the course of its first two seasons, the show has
been quietly building into a cult
hit. And thanks to some high-profile
changes, First Wave's producers are hoping the series can make a big splash in its third season, which kicks off
next month.
"We will be dramatically ramping up the invasion tension, introducing a powerful alien leader," First
Wave creator Chris Brancato recently told Cinescape contributor Barbara Widro. "The [new] Mabus character [played by Robert Duncan] is the uber-alien sent here
to personally supervise the invasion. This character puts a specific face on the alien threat."
As important as Mabus could prove to be to the series' ongoing story arc, his introduction isn't the biggest change
in First Wave's third season. That honor belongs to another new character - the wealthy, mysterious Jordan Radcliffe, played by Traci
Elizabeth Lords. During the first
two seasons, series hero Cade Foster (Sebastian Spence) was searching for an ally in his battle against an alien invasion. He'll finally find
that ally in Radcliffe, the leader of a militant resistance group called the Raven Nation.
"She is a very physical character, and I know that has a lot to do with me, because I am athletic and I am
comfortable doing that," Lords says of her First Wave character. "I think [in one episode] I killed four
aliens, kicked someone in the face, dove off a bus and was home for dinner by 6 - and I never mess up my lipstick.
So sometimes with my gun and tight pants I feel a little like Jaclyn Smith on Charlie's Angels."
For more on First Wave's third season changes, pick up the January
/ February issue of Cinescape magazine,
on sale soon. |

Andromeda Entertainment Spotlights Traci Lords in
FIRST WAVE: JORDAN RADCLIFFE - THE RAVEN |
|
Los Angeles, CA - Actress Traci Elizabeth Lords has
joined the cast of the hit Sci Fi Channel - Pearson Television series First Wave for that show's upcoming third
season, and Andromeda Entertainment is pleased to introduce her character in a brand new comic book special, First
Wave: Jordan Radcliffe - The Raven.
Lords portrays Jordan Radcliffe, the mysterious and sexy leader of a militia force known as the "Raven Nation,"
who has dedicated her life to hunting and destroying the alien menace known as The GUA. Early in Season 3, Radcliffe
and principal character Cade Foster rapidly develop something of a love-hate relationship, and Andromeda Entertainment
will be there every step of the way to bring that excitement into the comic book world.
"Science fiction comic book adaptations often miss the opportunity to contribute powerful new stories to the
show's universe," says Andromeda's editor-in-chief, Art Holcomb. "Many of them don't want to - or aren't
allowed to - create tales that offer the same entertainment experience as the shows or films they're supposed to
be celebrating. For fans and creators alike, it's a frustrating experience. That's not going to be the case with
Andromeda, and First Wave: Jordan Radcliffe - The Raven is a great example of what we're trying to do. We're working
very closely with the creators of the show to ensure not only that we're telling great stories, but that they're
in keeping with what fans of the series have come to expect - and then some!"
How close is the First Wave comic to the series? This special isn't set before or after Season Three's first episode.
It's set *during* the episode.
"Our special issue works as an excellent stand-alone introduction to Traci's character, but for the fans who
both see the episode and read the comic, there will be a superb entertainment experience. A lot of her background
will be seen for the first time in the comic," Holcomb says.
Lords, most recently the sexy villain of NBC's thriller series, Profiler, won acclaim for her role as a tragically
damaged ex-con who became the deadly pawn of "Jack," the series' serial killer antagonist. She has also
appeared in Roger Corman's sci-fi cult hit, Not of This Earth, John Waters' Cry Baby, and in guest-starring roles
on such popular series as MacGuyver, Wiseguy, Married with Children, and Melrose Place. She's also starred in such
highly rated telefilms as Stephen King's The Tommyknockers and in HBO's Intent to Kill, among others
First Wave: Jordan Radcliffe - The Raven will appear in Diamond Comic Distributors' December 2000 Previews catalog
and will be on sale in comic shops in February 2001. This one-shot special is written by James Anthony, illustrated
by Dan Parsons, and features a cover by painter Matt Busch. A special photo cover variant will also be offered.
The First Wave series is edited personally by Editor-in-Chief Art Holcomb and appears monthly from Andromeda Entertainment.
Andromeda's debut offering, First
Wave: Heart of a Killer #1 garnered a coveted "Featured Item" spot in the October edition of Diamond Comic Distributors' Previews catalog and extensive
media coverage throughout the comics industry. Heart of a Killer #1 will go on sale in late December 2000. Heart
of a Killer #2 will follow in January 2001, with the Jordan Radcliffe special appearing in stores in February.
First Wave, which has been described as "The X-Files meets The Fugitive," chronicles the adventures of
Cade Foster (Sebastian Spence) as he follows clues found in the ancient writings of Nostradamus, which reveals
the hidden alien menace among us. The series currently airs on Sci-Fi Sunday nights at 7:00 & 10:00 EST.

|
|
September 2000 |
|
September 27, 2000
Andromeda Entertainment today announced that its debut offering, First Wave: Heart of a Killer #1, had garnered
a coveted Featured Item spot in the October edition of Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. Previews catalog. First
Wave, which is based on the hit Sci-Fi Channel series from Pearson Television, is the flagship title in Andromeda
Entertainment’s new line of licensed sci-fi comic books.
Coverage in Previews and on Diamond’s website (http://www.diamondcomics.com/previews) continues with an interview with First Wave series creator
Chris Brancato and Andromeda Editor-in-Chief Art Holcomb as they discuss the course that they will chart for First
Wave both in comics and on television. In an unprecedented creative partnership, Holcomb and Brancato tell fans
that the comic book and the television series will be intertwined like never before.
“[Andromeda] is a great company who clearly know what they’re doing.” said Brancato. “I have offered whatever creative
input I can muster to help with the creation of compelling stories that are true to the tone and tenor of the show.”
Holcomb went on to say that the First Wave comic “will tie VERY CLOSELY to the TV series! We have a great relationship
with Chris and his team. We're looking to offer readers episode quality stories with bigger special effects than
are possible on TV.”
In First Wave: Heart of
a Killer, the prophecies
of Nostradamus have led Cade Foster to a maximum security prison in New York where a series of bizarre killings
have taken place. That wouldn’t be so strange had not inmates watched as one of the victim burst into flames. The
GUA are here, Cade can feel it, but what do they want? The question should be: what COULDN’T the aliens do with
a horde of killers and villains under their control? Or could it be for something ever more sinister? Cade and
Eddie rush in to investigate and end up putting themselves - and possible the entire world - in jeopardy.
The first installment, First
Wave: Heart of a Killer, is scheduled for release on December 20, 2000 -- powerfully written, wickedly drawn and breathtakingly delivered ON TIME! Readers can
access a list of stores where First Wave and other Andromeda products will be available for order by calling 1-888-COMIC-BOOK
or by pointing their web browsers to Diamond’s Comic Shop Locator Service at http://csls.diamondcomics.com.
Andromeda Entertainment’s coverage in the October edition of Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. Previews starts on
page 198 and runs through to the Featured Item listing on page 201. As a featured item, First Wave: Heart of a
Killer #1 is also prominently placed on Diamond’s website at http://www.diamondcomics.com/previews.
First Wave, which has been described as “The X-Files meets The Fugitive,” chronicles the adventures of Cade Foster
(Sebastian Spence) as he follows clues found in the ancient writings of Nostradamus, which reveals the hidden alien
menace among us. The series, produced by Francis Ford Coppola and Larry Sugar, currently airs in the United States

MATT "STAR WARS" BUSCH SIGNS
ON AS ANDROMEDA COVER
ARTIST
August 24, 2000
Andromeda Entertainment today announced that acclaimed artist Matt Busch, best known for his incredible Star Wars
imagery, has signed on to Produce the first covers for their new line of licensed sci-fi comic books. The first
covers produced by Busch will be for the flagship title of the new line, First Wave, based on the hit Sci-Fi Channel
series from Pearson Television.
"I'm honored to be working with such a talented assortment of folks in this new high profile company,"
said Busch. "It's amazing to see all of the work that's going into these books, and then I get tapped to do
a cover piece that unifies the cinematic feeling of the book as a whole. I feel very dedicated to these books,
and working with the Andromeda team is very inspiring."
In addition to his prolific comic portfolio, Matt's work for Lucasfilm licensees including Bantam/Doubleday (Star
Wars: Tales from the Empire) and West End Games (Star Wars Adventure Journal) has earned him high praise from the
creative community. Busch also counts extensive film and
television credits among his creative contributions including The Matrix, Home Alone 3, CBS's Murphy Brown, and
Fox Television's Melrose Place and New York Undercover.
Andromeda Editor-in-Chief Art Holcomb feels this blending of a film maker's sensibilities with a comic artist's
talent is exactly what is necessary to turn
out killer products while at the same time expanding the scope of the industry.
"Think of a comic book cover like you would a trailer for a new movie," said Holcomb. "It must be
powerful and beautiful and should only hint at the excitement that awaits you. It is the promise of things to come,
and the image that you will hold in your mind as you eagerly await the film's release or that moment when you hold
the new comic in your hands. Matt's work does all that and much more. His stuff just rocks and we're delighted
to have him aboard!"
The book is scheduled to ship in December and be on sale by December 20, 2000.

NOSTRADAMUS PREDICTS THE RESURRECTION OF THE COMIC
BOOK MARKET!
August 23, 2000
In 1564, Nostradamus predicted the resurrection of the comic book market in three terrifying waves. The First Wave
is here!
This ancient quatrain, taken from the famous seer's own work, clearly reveals the only hope the direct market will
have:
At the dawn of the new millennium, a man twice blessed will roam. Once doomed to shadows with his brethren, a savior
to all who walk the aisles for the nourishment of dreams. This man twice blessed shall lead the fans against the
growing waste of imagination.
Andromeda Entertainment, a new creative development company has recently gained proof that a conspiracy of universal
proportion has been taking place. An alien race known as the GUA have been suppressing the best sci-fi literary,
television, and theatrical properties from leaping from their traditional formats into the comic book market.
Now with the help of the Sci-Fi Channel, Pearson Television, and the Paranoid Times, Andromeda's Editor-In-Chief
Art Holcomb is revealing the alien conspiracy to the public and unleashing a new standard for comic quality.
"Licensed comics are a very particular type of comic and one that I believe should challenge those who choose
to work on them," said Holcomb at a recent convention appearance. "Keeping in mind that these are fondly
remembered properties, Andromeda's creators will be held to a higher standard of storytelling that will not only
ensure vibrant and captivating reading in our products but can only help our industry as a whole."
The first comic book release from Andromeda will be the Francis Ford Coppola produced Sci-Fi Channel hit series
First Wave. The series currently airs on the Sci-Fi Channel Sunday nights at 7:00 & 10:00 EST. The first issue,
First Wave: Heart of a Killer, is set for release on December 20, 2000 -- powerfully written, wickedly drawn and
breathtakingly delivered ON TIME! |

ANDROMEDA ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCHES NEW LICENSED SCI-FI
COMICS LINE
August 16, 2000
Baltimore, Maryland.
Believing that the comic book market lacks a strong publishing presence that specializes in licensed properties,
a new creative development firm called
Andromeda Entertainment today announced their plans for a new line of comics. Dedicated to bringing the very best
literary, television, and theatrical projects to the core fans of science fiction, Andromeda has begun licensing
original Sci-Fi Channel productions for comic publication.
The first of the new books to be published is based on the hit Sci-Fi Channel series, First Wave, from Pearson
Television. Created by Chris Brancato and
produced by Francis Ford Coppola and Larry Sugar, First Wave combines the best elements of science fiction and
horror into one weekly non-stop thrill ride.
“We are delighted to bring Sci-Fi’s original television programs to the powerful medium of comics” announced Art
Holcomb, Editor-in-Chief of Andromeda. “Starting in December of this year, this flagship line of comics will keep
fans and retailers alike delighted with the three things they look for most – vibrant storytelling, breath-taking
art and . . . on-time shipping!”
Trained as a screenwriter and whose work has appeared in live action, animation and on the Internet, Holcomb got
started in comics on a dare from a comic book publisher in 1992 and fell in love with the medium immediately. Since
then, he has written for Marvel, DC, Valiant, Acclaim, Broadway and Defiant, and is one of the industry’s leading
voices for creator’s rights and for increasing the power of comics as a medium. Holcomb continues to hail the link
between screenwriting and comic scriptwriting and is a much sought after public speaker, making appearances in
a number of countries to capacity audiences.
Holcomb and Brancato are looking forward to a very close working relationship. "The fans are gonna love this!”
said series creator Chris Brancato. “Comic books are a bold, fantastic, visual medium and the
perfect venue to expand the First Wave universe. I'm really excited about exploring Cade Foster's mission with
the writers and artists at Andromeda.”
The series, which has been described as “The X-Files meets The Fugitive,” chronicles the adventures of Cade Foster
(Sebastian Spence) as he follows clues found in the ancient writings of Nostradamus, which reveals the
hidden alien menace among us. First Wave currently airs on Sci-Fi Sunday nights at 7:00 & 10:00 EST.

Date: 8/11/2000
From: coop451
this is what I got today. Thought you'd like to see:Dear Coop
Many thanks for all the interest you and your fellow fans have shown in seeing more First Wave coverage in our
magazines. We have watched the e-mails piling into Cult Times, Starburst, TV Zone and Xposé's mailboxes
and what can we say - we get the message!
The good news is that Xposé, for one, is provisionally (I stress, provisionally) allocating First Wave a
cover feature very soon now. This would (to my knowledge) be the first cover devoted to the series in any of
our titles. There is a new interview with Sebastian Spence already lined up,
and we hope to add another with Traci Lords to it. Xposé's editor has also
just personally reviewed a whole batch of recent (Season 2) episodes in the
latest issue, #48, which is another positive sign.
On the other hand, it's only fair to point out that too much pressure can sometimes be counter-productive. Although
we always welcome suggestions for coverage, a continuing stream of e-mails from the same group of people is
just as likely to exasperate the editorial staff working on our range. There is a high level of co-operation here,
and it won't help your cause if ardent First Wavers become perceived in a negative light. In other words - not
wishing to be harsh - please do not continue to make your requests repeatedly.
Once again, thanks for your interest, and please understand that the advice above is simply intended to prevent
your campaign from backfiring.
Thank you for your co-operation,
Best regards

First Wave Getting Comic Books |
|
From 'The Brethren Chronicle", The 'Office First Wave Newsletter';
Date: 7/30/2000
From: DrkAngel_113
We are getting First Wave Comic Books. Now this is NOT a rumor, this IS for real, this IS confirmed news. Now details
are a bit sketchy right now. But we have on good authority that a big name from the Star Wars/Lucasfilm universe
may be involved in this project. We will keep everyone abreast of details as we get them. You guys will be the
first to hear this news, before the rest of the world. About time eh! All of our sources conveyed that they, "want
the fans to be a part of this."
The Newsletter update:
Here's an update on the next issue while we are at it. If the pattern holds true, we'll have some more news on
the Comic Books, and we're gonna have some surprises that if they all come together will make this one of our best
issues yet, and it's not even our anniversary yet. That's November, and we have some real big stuff planned for
that as well. Be on the look out for an exclusive interview with a big name on the crew of First Wave. Sorry, this
is a teaser, no spoilers….

Official
response from SCI FI
- from Craig E. Engler, Executive Producer, SCIFI.CO - "No Repeats Summer" - (In response to the FW Fan
Salt Campaign, below) |
|
Craig E. Engler, Executive Producer,
SCIFI.COM |
|
You asked for an official response from SCI FI and here it is. A network spokesperson (not me...I'm just passing along the message) writes:
Sci Fi is aware that the fans of our original series have been asking for new episodes. For example, First Wave
fans have been seasoning the network offices with salt for a few weeks now, asking for more original episodes.
And now, this summer, Sci Fi is giving its viewers something special -- a summer without any repeats of our original
series. The broadcast networks may go to sleep during the summer, but not Sci Fi! All summer long, viewers will
be treated to original episodes of First Wave, Farscape, Lexx, and Exposure, as well as new original series such
as Invisible Man, Crossing Over with John Edward, Sciography, and the original miniseries, Ultraviolet. |

First Wave Fans Send Salt |
|
Sci-Fi Wire |
|
Fans of The SCI FI Channel series First Wave are organizing a letter-writing campaign, modeled on one for The WB's Roswell, to persuade SCI FI to improve its treatment of the show. The fans, organized
around SCI FI's First
Wave message
board, "are very
unhappy that since the second season ... very few new episodes have been aired," organizer Barbara J. Widro
told SCI FI Wire.
The fans are also unhappy with the number of repeats and preemptions and what they perceive as a lack of promotion
for the series. Emulating fans of Roswell, who mailed thousands of bottles of Tabasco
sauce to The WB's executives to get their show renewed, First Wave
fans are mailing packets of salt to SCI FI executives. Tabasco is the favorite condiment of Roswell's teen aliens; salt is like heroin to First Waves' alien invaders. |

Traci Lords Joins First Wave cast |
|
From Sci-Fi Wire |
|
Actress Traci Lords has been cast opposite leading
man Sebastian Spence in the SCI FI show First Wave, which is currently in the midst of its second season.
Lords will join the series in progress as the mysterious and sexy Jordan Radcliffe, who teams up with Spence's
character Cade Foster on his quest to stave off an invasion of aliens who appear as humans.
Radcliffe is described as the leader of the militia force "Raven Nation" who possesses a keen intelligence
and athletic prowess. "My character is out fighting for humanity," Lords said. "It's great to play
a role where you're trying to save the world."
"We searched high and low for an accomplished actress with the right
combination of substance and sexiness," said First Wave creator Chris
Brancato. "Traci is the perfect person for this role."
In upcoming episodes Jordan and Foster will discover a simmering attraction to one another that's blocked by clashing
personal styles. Ultimately they'll realize that the key to defeating their enemy lies in fighting together and
overcoming their differences. They will also go on a journey to catch and destroy Mabus, the Antichrist predicted
by Nostradamus who has come to lead the alien invasion. |
