Although spiritualists are skilled in many forms of divination, their primary job is dealing with spirits, the undead, and other occult or paranormal creatures. In most cases spirits are friendly creatures that can help give us information and insight about our world, and it is the spiritualists that can contact these beings. But sometimes spirits can be quite the opposite, and then it is the spiritualist's job to rid them of this plane.

Spirits are either creatures of pure spiritual energy, such as the spirits that serve the Elements, or are the souls of once-living creatures. They inhibit many different spiritual planes of our world, galaxy, and being, and usually have some purpose or goal that they are trying to achieve. They are always around us, even though many people are unaware of them or are skeptical of their existance.

Just like people, spirits are very individual. They all act differently, have different goals and purposes, and can even be of different races. Most spirits are simply inhibitors of different spiritual planes that go about their own tasks, not interacting with others. Other spirits dwell on planets, where they study the life of the world, and use this knowledge to aid themselves and others. Some spirits are earthbound spirits, and are the souls of the dead that cannot spiritually leave this plane for some reason or another. And then there are always the guiding spirits of the living, that dwell in our subconcious and help us throughout our lifetimes.

Just like all living creatures, all spirits fall under one of the six Elements, and usually this Element that they serve under gives us insight into the kind of purposes or goals they have. Spirits of the Light are here to protect and help people, while spirits of the basic Elements are usually aids to the Elementals, spiritual guides to the living, or are trying to achieve goals affiliated with one of the qualities of the Element they follow. And spirits of the Dark are here to cause problems for people, or achieve evil and selfish goals.

Contacting and interacting with spirits can sometimes be difficult, because most dwell on different spiritual planes than we do. But those with spiritual or occult powers have found ways to communicate with these beings, and it is usually only these people that can do it. Through spiritual meditations, it is possible to reach out with the mind to different spiritual planes, and from that point try to attract spirits to communicate with, although many speak in ways which we cannot understand. Because of this most spiritualists communicate to spirits through feelings and images, although sometimes it is still confusing to understand what the spirit is trying to say. Like dreams, many of these images can be confusing or have hidden meanings which may not be apparent, and it takes much skill and practice to fully learn how to get the most out of the valuable information that spirits have to offer.

Very skilled spiritualists in the art of speaking with spirits can even find ways to get spirits to help aid them with their problems, and many times spirits will come to them needing help. Although people and spirits are very similar in many ways, we are also very different, and sometimes it is neccesary and important that we learn to help each other to both benefit from the situations we encounter in the world.

Another way of contacting spirits, or at least attracting their attention, is by the use of "spiritual keys." Spiritual keys are actually resonances, or spiritual vibrations, through the human body, and depending on the kind of resonance, they attract different spirits. The Oclloans were able to develop very effective system of using spiritual keys, through music. Different songs would send different resonances through the body, which would bring around the spirits that related to the resonance. After you knew the spirits had your attention, contacting them and understanding them was usually much easier, because it would bring the spirits to your own spiritual level. The only reason that using spiritual keys such as this didn't become as widely used by spiritualists is because only a very select few can use their power. To those spiritualists that could use the the power of spiritual keys, it not only could draw spirits, but also captivate them, anger them, or even seal them away.

Although communicating with Dark spirits works the same way, it can become much more complicated, complex, and dangerous. Because Dark spirits work often work in different ways than other spirits to accomplish their goals, they have to be dealt with much differently. It is important to always deal with a spirit on their own level, and work from that perspective. Sometimes it is difficult to find out exactly what level evil spirits are on, making it very tricky to deal with them.

Dark spirits often use humans against their will to get what they want. They often do this by haunting, manipulating, or possessing humans. The easiest of these three methods is haunting, where the spirit finds a human that it needs to carry out its needs, and then through subconcious levels, torments the person by constantly trying to tell them what it wants them to do. Sometimes this is in words, although it may be in an unknown language, but most often is in images and feelings, the universal language of all beings. Usually these feelings and images will follow the person around, even in their dreams, and drive the victim mad. The spirit usually continues with this behavior until the victim either gives in, or it finds a better victim to haunt. In some cases, though, the spirit will just start using stronger methods of getting the victim to do as they wish.

Manipulation is the second method used by most Dark spirits. Their manipulative tactics can get complex, ranging from hypnosis of people's subconcious, provocation, and controling or altering events in the world to get humans to respond as they wish. Manipulation takes more effort and planning than haunting, but is easier than other methods. For very strong Dark spirits, manipulation is usually their first resort for getting what they desire. If that doesn't work, then they usually move on to using more drastic methods, such as possession.

Possession can become complicated, but can be easy for very powerful Dark spirits. For possession to be able to take place, the spirit must first find a person with a weak mind and soul, which would be easy for them to enter and control. When this "host" is found, they enter into them through the spiritual levels of the subconscious, and from this point can control the person as they please. Some spirits will take complete control of the mind and body of the person, or will do this periodically as needed. When this happens, the person retains no memory of what the spirit had been doing-- their soul is thrown back into the inner recesses of their mind until the spirit is ready to release it. Sometimes only a partial possession will occur, where the spirit shares the soul with the person, influencing the person's thoughts and actions. In these cases the person will remember what happens, but will usually be unaware that it is caused by another force, and just believe it is their own thoughts and actions.

Possession can become very dangerous, and if the spirit is strong enough, they can completely overcome the person's soul, killing it, and then continue to use their body, which is just a shell for the soul. In stronger individuals, their pshyche usually becomes weak and tired from trying to overcome the spirit, bringing physical and mental illness. It is very important for spiritualists to rid possessing spirits from their host before these things can happen.

There is also one other method that a desperate spirit can use on humans, although it can be difficult even for the strongest spirits. This is fragmenting. Fragmenting occurs when the spirit breaks a piece of itself off into the soul of the host, where it is permently attached and takes effect in the person. Fragmenting can be used to force a person to behave a certain way that aids the spirit, to force certain thoughts or feelings on a person, or to make the person act exactly as the spirit itself, sometimes even with its powers. When fragmenting occurs, there is nothing that even the most skilled spiritualists can do about it. It is a permanent, and still to this day a cure for fragmenting has never been found.

There are many different methods that spiritualists use to rid Dark spirits from this plane. Since spirits cannot be "killed," ridding them usually means weakening the spirit and then sealing it away. The method spiritualists use depends entirely on the spirit-- what type of spirit it is, the powers it possesses, what it's intentions are, and which spiritual planes it works on. For weak spirits, sometimes it can be as easy as lighting a white candle and through spiritual channels asking it to leave. This usually can rid any bothersome earthbound spirit, or any other weak spirits that may be causing a problem or discomfort. For stronger Dark spirits, it usually takes much more work and complexity to rid them back to the planes where they belong.

One of the best methods for this to call upon the powers of the Elements, and channeling their energies through the spirit, they weaken it. This causes the spirit to have to retreat to its own spiritual levels to regain its power, and from these levels it can be sealed away. Usually it takes more than one spiritualist to do this, to be able to channel the power from each of the four different Elements, although very strong spiritualists can do it alone. First a contact or link must be made to Elemental spirits, and their help is asked for. Channeling their energies through the spiritualist's body, the spiritualist then channels this energy back to the level the spirit resides in, and follows the spirit to the level it tries to retreat to. Here the Elemental powers are combined with spiritual powers, and a seal is made to lock the spirit in its own plane. This is only one of the many methods that spiritualists use to rid spirits, but is usually one of the most effective methods.

It is possible for sealed spirits to break free of their spiritual prisons, and spiritualists have also developed ways of preventing this from happening, as well as preventing Dark spirits from coming around at all. Usually they do this through the use of Oclloan spirit wards, small white flags with Oclloan writing and symbols on them that hold different spiritual powers. When these wards are put into effect, it usually can chase a spirit away, weaken it, or sometimes even destroy it. Although not foul-proof, these wards are usually good protection against unwanted or nasty spirits.

In addition to spirits, spiritualists also deal with other occult creatures, most of which are beings from the Dark Element. These creatures, under the Dark, are constantly trying to gain power, and usually wish for domination over all for their own selfish reasons. Many of these evil creatures developed from Oclloan myths, and are still attracted to those of the ancient Oclloan blood. Most Dark spirits are actually the souls of dead Dark creatures, so many of the tactics they use against people and the tactics we use against them are similar. Below, some of these ancient Oclloan creatures are explain in detail.

Mamano is the Oclloan word for Devil. The Mamano's main goal is to dominate over mankind, bringing the Dark into the world. When the moons of their plane and our plane align, it tears a hole into the fabric of the dimensions, allowing the Mamano to break into our world in their quest to bring forth a time of endless night. In this darkness they can live on human soil, and bury mankind under their darkness and evil. In order to achieve this eternal darkness, their Black Queen must find a human host to feed on, reviving her and her power. With their Queen resurrected, the Mamano could then hold dominion over all. Although it takes many centuries for the moons to align and this ceremony to take place, some Mamano can find other small tears in thier spiritual plane to escape into our plane, and take solo actions with their powers against humans.

The Mamano usually appear to be quite monstrous, although some can hold a very human-like form, such as the Black Queen herself, which is usually selected among mortals before the time of the resurrection ceremony. Usually each Mamano has its own unique powers that it uses to try to alter the human state-- one of the most noted is the devil Tokima, who can control the very fabric of time. The Mamano can also possess humans, much like Dark spirits can, to help them in their quest for Dark domination. Throughout the years, though, some Oclloan families have dedicated their lives from generation to generation into killing these beasts before they can cause the human race harm, although it is unknown if these families still exist.

Mazoku is the Oclloan word for Monster. The Mazoku's main goal is also domination over mankind, although they go about it in a much different way than the Mamano. The Mazoku are based on a system of ranking and order, and the different individuals in this system work together or against each other to try to take control of the world. This system usually starts with the supreme power over all, known as the Lord of Nightmares, and under her there are two rival branches of the Mazoku-- Cephied and Shabrinigdu. Under these two forces are other Mazoku, and each Mazoku sub-ruler has a General and a Priest that serves under them. The different Mazoku usually have different inner goals, and each Mazoku wishes for supreme power over the others, often times leading to rivalries amongst themselves.

The Mazoku usually have two forms each-- one is very human-like, and it most often used in interactions with people, and the other is a monsterous form, which holds great powers that they use to try to destroy our world. Usually all Mazoku in their human forms have some common powers, such as the ability to teleport, turn invisible, fly, and possess strong magical powers, but usually have different, stronger powers in their beast forms. Although they are very manipulative and can usually trick people into helping them without knowing it, Mazoku cannot possess a human's body, except for the Lord of Nightmares, who has much stronger powers than the rest. Usually the Mazoku have been battled in the past by Oclloan sorcerers, and they are most susceptible to incredibly strong black magic and the legendary "weapons of light," five ancient weapons that were hidden throughout Ocllo many centuries ago that possess the powers of the Light Element.

Shinma is the Oclloan word for those beings which are both God and Demon. The goal of the Shinma is not very apparent, although it is believed that they simply wish to live in this realm, and they do whatever is in their power to accomplish this. The Shinma date back to very ancient Oclloan history, to the times that they believed gods and demons were as one, but as their beliefs changed, the Shinma were sealed away in an abyss of distant memory, known as the Dark. The hearts of humans who feared the Dark brought this about, and slowly the Shinma awaken from their slumber, and wish to break free from the Dark and back into this realm.

Most Shinma look like normal people, although there are a few exceptions. Usually each Shinma controls unique powers, which usually stem from the Shinma taking residence in human emotions, which it uses to gain power. They feed off of these human souls, and sometimes find it necessary to possess people. Their possession is very strong, and when a person is taken over by a Shinma, they usually will always die. The Shinma are usually hunted by lone spiritualists or other occult creatures, but usually aren't sought out to be killed as the Mazoku and Mamano are. Rather, they are returned to the Dark and sealed away there, like spirits. When the Shinma's true name is discovered and burnt onto a spiritual seal or ward, the Shinma loses power, and then is spiritually sealed behind it into the Dark. In this case, the Shinma's own name is its spiritual key.

Oni is the Oclloan word for Demon. The Oni really have no direct goal other than to just create trouble for people. The Oni are usually a form of very strong spirit, and are most often hired by higher spirits and occult creatures to help them with their goals. But even in these circumstances, the Oni really follow no one but themselves, and do as they please. They love to play tricks on people and cause trouble for their own enjoyment. They are usually very evil and powerful beings, and will not stop until they have their way.

Oni usually remain in an invisible, spiritual form, but some opt to take other forms. Some choose human-like forms, but usually appear either very demon-like or as they were in the old Oclloan legends-- green-haired with horns and tiger-striped clothing. Each Oni has its own unique powers, usually either of a physical force, such as an element or form of weather, or a human emotion. They are masters at all the spiritual tactics-- haunting, manipulation, possession, and fragmentation. They are the most common of the occult creatures, and are often times the most difficult to get rid of. Oni's cannot be killed, and must be sealed away like spirits, however, they are much more powerful than spirits, and can usually find ways to break free or become so powerful that they cannot be sealed. When attempting to seal an Oni, spiritual keys are usually a must to try to keep the demons where they belong.

Kyuuketsuki is the Oclloan word for Vampire. In ancient times, the Kyuuketsuki were believed to be servants of the Dark Element, and their goal was the same-- for Dark to conquer all. But it has been found over the years that this is not the intention of the Kyuuketsuki at all-- rather, their goal is simply to live and survive, just the same as us.

The Kyuuketsuki were created by the fragmenting of a Dark spirit that was created by the Dark Element in its attempt to eradicate humans. This spirit fragmented itself into a mortal victim, causing the victim to become like itself, and have to feed off of human lives to live. After this first Kyuuketsuki was created, it could then fragment itself into other mortal victims, multiplying their kind, and creating more weapons for the Dark Element to achieve his goal.

The Kyuuketsuki were all once mortal people, who have now become immortal through this fragmentation of the spirit. They appear to be the same age that they were at their creation, have very pale white skin, and have two fangs that they use to suck the blood out of mortals, draining them of their life, but feeding their own immortality. This thirst for life became so strong that a Kyuuketsuki could not survive if it did not feed at least once every day.

They possessed and developed many powers over the centuries, but exactly what is in their power is still a mystery. But as they have been observed over the years, many of their limitations have been discovered. Although they could stand in the sun, it would drain them of their powers, so they became creatures of the night that usually avoided the sun. And although they remained immortal as long as they fed, there were some ways of destroying such creatures. The most ancient of these is to burn them, and have their entire body destroyed by the flames. But they could also die if they lost enough of their blood from a serious wound, or if they fed off the blood of the dead. Blood was their life-force, and they had to have the living blood of the world's creatures to survive.

It was also this blood that allowed them to fragment into others. If a mortal were drained of their blood to the point of death, and then drunk the blood of a Kyuuketsuki, they would go through a mortal death, and reawaken as an immortal Kyuuketsuki. The Kyuuketsuki, being immortal creatures, often would make others just to have a companion throughout the passage of time.

It wasn't long after the creation of the Kyuuketsuki kind until they turned against the Dark Element that they were bound under. For they saw through his plan, looking back at his entire goal for starting their existance. He created them to help him eradicate the human race -- but they had to have the human race to live, and therefore would die at his hands if he achieved his goal. After realizing that they were just a tool for the Dark Element and slowly helping with their own murder, they broke away from his alliance, and become lone hunters of the night, just seeking to survive through the centuries.
