New rules info

New scoring system

At the FIVB congress held in Tokyo on October 28th, delegates from 138 countries unanimously approved the change of scoring system: it won't be the side-out system anymore, it will be the rally point system.

The rally point system makes the play almost completely different:

  1. there will be no side-outs (which means all sets will be like tie-breaks) and

  2. all the sets will be played till one team reaches 25 points (!) with 2 points difference

Another decision from this congress disables the use of old, white balls in national championships and, of course makes the blue-white-yellow ball the only possible ball to play with.

Vote for the ball you prefer!

All national federations which are FIVB members must use these rules from January, 1st 2000.

Soon there will be a poll here about these new rules, so press Ctrl+D and stay tuned!

New FIVB members

Some more national federations (I think six) have joined FIVB: Greenland, Antarctica, Palau, Niue, one from Africa (can't remember which one) and one more (which I have completely forgotten :-)). If you know which they are PLEASE tell me, or sign the guestbook. Thanx!

Soon there will be a poll here about these new rules, so press Ctrl+D and stay tuned!
