School Programmes
The coaches of the Mavericks Cheerleaders currently teach cheerleading in numerous schools across Kent as part of after school and lunch time clubs and PE lessons as a way to get more young people involved in sport.
Cheerleading is a sport that promotes fitness and team work through fun and hard work. It encourages young people to socialise as well as learn valuable skills in areas such as cooperation, communication and dedication as well as the physical skills of dance, stunting and tumbling.
The NCSSE/USASF qualified coaches of the Mavericks Cheerleaders have been using the sport of cheerleading across schools in Kent as an exciting new way to get young people active. The National Healthy Schools Programme is an exciting long-term initiative aimed at making a significant difference to the health and achievement of children and young people, cheerleading is a new and fun way of achieving this. The National Healthy Schools Programme combined with the numerous skills learnt from cheerleading help to support the links between health, behaviour and achievement; creating healthy and happy young people, who do better in learning and in life.
If your school or organisation would be interested in the Mavericks Cheerleaders coming to your school to coach a cheerleading club, either in P.E. lessons, lunchtime or after school, contact us today. The sessions consist of cheer games and fitness, learning the basics of cheerleading (including dancing, stunting, chants and tumbling) and learning cheers and routines that can be used to support the school at matches or be used as a performance. The sessions can be a one-off or run for a period and time of your choice.
The successes of cheerleading clubs that the Mavericks have coached and are currently coaching throughout Kent have shown an increase in the number of pupils joining in sport and becoming active, and an increase in school support and spirit.
