After It’s Kind
By Timothy Glover
An unchangeable law of science has been proven over and over. And, the Bible mentions this law in its first book. Repeatedly, we read of seeds producing “after its kind” (1:11,12). Every living creature produces “after its kind” (1:21,24,25; 6:20, 7:14). Leviticus 11 says the same of the vulture, the kite, the raven, the cuckoo, the hawk, the stork, the heron, the locust, the beetle, the grasshopper, the mouse, and the tortoise. It is true that there are many species of each of these listed. A Brahma cow looks very different from a Hereford or an Angus. Yet, it is still a cow. Hence, the different breeds or species can interbreed and produce still different looking cattle. But, the kind has not changed.
A common error is to confuse change with evolution. Changes from the embryo is not evolution. Why? The kind remains the same. On occasion, my family and I will go to the mall. While waiting for my wife, I customarily sit on a bench and notice the remarkable differences in people. It is my observation that we are raising children to be much taller. The average height has increased from 5’8” to 6’ or more. Are we evolving? No! The kind has not changed.
Hybrids, like a mule, can be produced by combining a horse and a donkey. The fact that it is sterile suggests that it has reached the limits of its kind. Even within a kind, there are limits to mixing. As long as we stay within the kind, there can be produced great variety, but the kinds cannot be mixed.
Further, some organisms have greater adaptability. They were created with greater adaptability. Rather than evolving into a new kind because of a change in environment, the ability to adapt to the environmental change was already present. Some merely have the ability to adapt to changes more than others. For example, we may think that a Polar bear evolved into a cold weather animal. Yet, it can survive in warmer climates, too. Other bears have less adaptability. Once again, variety within a kind is not proof of evolution. There is no proof linking one kind to another kind. The changes only occur within the same kinds. Adding the thoughts of last month to the principle that life produces after its kind, then monkeys have always been monkeys, and humans have always been humans. Until we find the “missing link” in the fossil record that links monkeys to humans, we have no right to fill our museums and text books with human guesses of the hair, eyes, nose and lips of “ape-men” and then deceitfully display them as proof of evolution. Even more preposterous is the effort to link plants and animals to each other. Oh, how far people will go to prove nothing in an effort to deny the existence of Almighty God!
