Of Jesus Christ and what He did |
The only remedy for sin is Jesus Christ.
He is eternally God
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Jn 1:1 - 3, 14
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, Col 2: 9
He is Lord of all
He is Lord of lords and King of kings. Rev 17: 14
Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place
and gave Him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2: 9 - 11Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. Acts 10: 36
He became man
Being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made Himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. Phil 2: 6 - 7He is utterly pure and sinless
He has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin. Heb 4: 15
"He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in His mouth."
When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. 1 Pet 2: 22 - 23He appeared so that He might take away our sins. And in Him is no sin. 1 Jn 3: 5
The sinless one became a sacrifice for our sin
God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Cor 5: 21
He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good. Tit 2: 14
He shed His own blood as an atonement for our sin.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace Eph 1: 7
He loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, Rev 1: 5
He died on the cross to provide a way of salvation for sinners.
He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. 1 Pet 2: 24
For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross. Col 1: 19, 20
He rose triumphantly from the dead.
He declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom 1: 4
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Rom 4: 25
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. 1 Cor 15: 3 - 4
His righteousness is imputed to those who trust Him.
It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, Who has become for us wisdom from God -- that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Cor 1: 30
in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Cor 5: 21
However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works. Rom 4: 5 - 6
What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. Phil 3: 8 - 9
Thus He freely justifies all who trust in Him.
We are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Rom 3: 24
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Rom 5: 1 - 2
Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him! Rom 5: 9
a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. Gal 2: 16
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." Jn 5: 24
