Genuine repentance is not self-reformation or the truning over of a new leaf. It is a turning of the heart to God from all that is evil.

Repent

"For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, " declares the Sovereign LORD. "Repent and live!" Eze 18: 32

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, Acts 3: 19

God commands all people everywhere to repent. Acts 17: 30

" I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." Acts 26: 20

Turn your heart from all that dishonours God.

Turn to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 1 Thess 1: 9

This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices! Eze 14: 6

"Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall." Eze 18: 30

Let the wicked forsake his way
and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for He will freely pardon. Isa 55: 7

Follow Jesus

"If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. Lk 9: 23

"No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Lk 9: 62

Whoever serves Me must follow Me; and where I am, My servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me. Jn 12: 26

You are My friends if you do what I command. Jn 15: 14

Trust Him as Lord and Saviour

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." Acts 16: 31

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10: 9
