October 1, 1945 (Mon)
Still raining. Jess took me to school. I got there early so I could finish my short stories. I worked in the library during homeroom. I handed my short stories in in English. I took a comptometer test in Cl. Practice. I made 18 (perfect score 20). I had Phys. Fit 3rd period today. Pat wasn't here today so I ate lunch by myself. I wrote a letter to Dwight then too. We are typing cards in typing 7th. I worked in Library after school till 4. Dot was home when I got home - a very happy Dot - she is going to get a diamond when Bob comes home (probably a couple weeks) I guess he hated to see her come home. Dottie Gremaux and her sister Elsie came out for supper and then they and Dot went to the show. Dottie G. has to go back to camp at San Diego, Calif tomorrow. My chocolate cake was very good. I just read magazines this evening - didn't do any homework. Its about a quarter after 10. Now. Bye
October 2, 1945 (Tues)
We finished discussing short stories in English - tomorow a test. I took typing tests - had 52 wpm, 80% accuracy on one - not so hot. I worked at the desk in Library 3rd. Studied my Economics in there. Pat and Oddra neither one were here today so I ate lunch with Donna Lou, Dolores and Evelyn. I got sick right after 5th so I came home. I took my pills right away so I didn't get very sick. I had some terrible nightmares though. Tonight was Jobs Daughters and also the CS - NS, but I couldn't go to either. I just read magazines - mostly Woman's Home Companion and studied my English and Economics. Gloria called this evening, but I just didn't feel like getting up and talking to her so I told her I would call her tomorrow. I ate a little late this evening and then went to bed.
October 3, 1945 (Wed)
I made 81 on my English test. Not too good. I typed a list of names and ruled them for Mrs. Bridges 2nd. I had Phys. Fit 3rd. We had a test on Saque hall (?) - don't know what I made on it. I gave an Economics report on a margin today. Pat and Oddra weren't here again today. I guess they both have colds so I ate lunch with Dolores, Evelyn and Donna Lou again. Marilyn Long asked me to a Halloween party too. That makes 3 now. We took a letter in Shhd. and then transcribed it in Typing on the typewriter. We'll probably do that l lot from now on. I had a National Legend agent meeting. I had to be back at school at 7. NHS figured the homeroom averages. We got out of there about 9:30. Dad helped me study my Economics this evening. I got a letter from Jackie. Its 10:30 now. night.
October 4, 1945 (Thurs)
We are starting on poetry in English now. Betty and I helped Mr. Reeves 2nd period. We skipped Dramatics 3rd period and went to Library - I worked at the desk then. I had a test in Economics 4th - it wasn't too bad. Oddra was here today so we ate lunch in the cafeteria with Donna Lou, Evelyn, Dolores and Kathleen Brenzir. Then we went outside and walked around. We are supposed to start working 2 hrs. every night on Shhd. Man. We had minute test again in Typing - I typed 83 wpm on one. I went to SPC after school. Miss Suter appointed me Secretary-Treasurer. Thats the big job in SPC. I got home about 5. I worked on Shhd. most of the evening. Bob called Dot from Camp Atterbury - just to talk. Its about 10:30 so bye.
October 5, 1945 (Fri)
We discussed a paraphase for a poem in English. Betty and I helped Mr. Reeves 2nd - we had more fun in his office. I worked at the desk in the library 3rd. We had current events about Japan in Economics. Pat was back in school today. We ate lunch in the cafeteria and then went outside. Still dictation in Shhd. and transcription in Typing. We had a pep session this afternoon. Janet went down and got a ticket so we decided to go. I got home about 4 - went over to the grocery with Dad, ate supper, did dishes, and got cleaned up. Pauline came over for awhile. Mother and Dad took me to NS. I met Janet and Nancy at 7:30. We played Central and lost 6 - 20. It was a rotten game. I got home about 10:30 and it is 11:30 now so goodnite. Kay is 6 today.
October 6, 1945 (Sat)
Mother got me up about 8. I ate breakfast, then Mom, Dad, Marg, Jess, Marge, David and I went out in the country and got 2 bushels of pears. (Dot went down to Camp Atterbury this morning) Mom, Dad and I got ready and went downtown. Mother got a new pair of shoes, some kitchen curtains and a dress for Kay. I got stationery, stamps and a light blue blouse. It buttons up the front and is tied at the neck with a bow. This afternoon we listened to the Chicago Cubs - Detroit Tigers game. Detroit won. Mom and Dad sent away and I did my part of my shorthand. I wrote letters to Jackie and Dwight and washed dishes. Martha Adams (from Erie, Pa) and her boyfriend and Aunt Elma came over this evening. At 8:30 I went over to Ralstons and took care of the kids. I was there till 3:30. Made a $1.50.
