Joryan prime was first colonised by the Adeptus Mechanicus, but later due to increased trade and commerce between the two worlds, many merchants from Joryan secundus refounded the planet and it rapidly grew into the hive city it is today. Its main tithe is the many weapons and vehicles created in its hi-rise forges. However, the planet can barely support its own population and civil disputes and uprisings are common place, as the under classes try to cut a better deal for themselves. The planet has been the subject of many Inquisitorial purges, but so far no permanent solution has been found and the best policy is still the imperial doctrine of iron rule.
Joryan secundus is an agri world with a population of around 95,000. It was founded before Joryan prime, but suffers little of the unrest associated with its larger cousin. Its population is kept so low by the violent storms that ravage its surface. Most people own huge tracks of land and grow an amazingly hardy strain of crop called puchio. It supplies the rest of the system and many neighbouring systems with a staple food source. The PDF on this planet is negligible, the Arbiters are solely responsible for its security.
The relay station on Joryan prime's largest moon is perhaps the most important part of the Joryan system. It does not produce weapons or have a huge population, or supply millions with food. What it has is much more vital to the Imperium, an astronomican relay matrix. This is a combination of Astropaths and vast machines that boost psychic signals. This allows for the retransmission of telepathic messages and acts like a focussing beam for the astronomican's psychic spotlight, essential for the ships of the Emperor's fleets.
The system was attacked by an offshoot horde of Orks from Waaaargh Grimshank. They descended on Joryan secundus without warning and virtually the entire population fled. The Orks probably took more casualties landing than from the fighting that ensued. However it was an entirely different story as they approached Joryan prime, the PDF here was well equipped but more importantly, was vast in number. The Orks were easily beaten back to secundus, and most of their attack ships destroyed. However the Orks had done more damage than they could comprehend, they had removed Joryan prime's only source of food.
Joryan prime had about a month's stockpile of food, once the danger was realised most of this was saved for the PDF. Normally there is conflict on prime, but when food started to run short the people of it started to get worried and unrest spread like wild fire. The officials were confident that they could retake secundus and avert disaster, but something more pressing was coming their way.
The civilians on prime had had enough, they were starving and oppressed, and ready to fight. Using weapons stolen from the forges they started to raid the PDF lines, but unconfirmed reports were coming in of organised resistance, and certainly by the way things were going there seemed to be some one behind the 'random attacks'. Then the big push came, and the revolt was seen for what it truly was a Chaos insurrection. The PDF was struggling ever more futilely to contain the threat, and the Orks were stomping upon the surface of secundus. The moon base relay station was the last hope for the Joryan system the call went out for help
