~ A Special Note from Melinda Burgard ~

Hello Everyone!

First, I wish to thank those involved for all their support during the past
10.5 years of Melinda's Music Early Childhood Music Classes.
As of the Spring 2006 semester I will no longer be teaching this type of class.

When I first came to the Warwick area, there were very few
Early Childhood Music Classes and I decided to create one.
With your blessing, it has been a great success.
Many of my past students are still singing, playing instruments and
enjoying music as a part of their lives. For me, the goal of having your
child LOVE music has been accomplished.

In 1994, I achieved my Master's Degree in Music Therapy from NYU.
As of this past year, New York State has finally recognized Music Therapy
(as well as other Creative Arts Therapies) as a valid therapy.
I was recently "grandfathered" into the license of LCAT
(Licensed Creative Arts Therapist). I am now going to continue to
have the focus of my Music Practice as a Therapist who practices
Psychotherapy utilizing music as a way to assist children
with Special Needs, as well as individuals who suffer from Strokes,
Dementia and others on Palliative Care.
I am also proud to announce that I will be the first Music Therapist
in the history of the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
I am currently acting as a consultant at Mt. Alverno Center and am
on the Palliative Care Team for the Bon Secour Hospital System
at St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick. I also continue to visit private
clients in a variety of Nursing Facilities as well as in their homes.

To all those parents who diligently brought their
children to my music classes over the years
I thank you for sharing your most precious gift with me...
your children.
