HER TRUDY
And I read a poem.
I did a search on the internet for my name
And a page came up filled with poetry
There was a poem on it called Trudy
"There was never enough darkness for Trudy..."
It talked about how this person's Trudy had a darkness in her
But how the poet knew that she'd somehow overcome it
It makes me wonder if everyone named Trudy has the darkness
If we all sit and write inane poetry
Poetry that will never compare to those poems I saw on that page
If all the Trudy's in the world gathered
Would we be able together, to overcome our darkness?
Or would we all think that we were the worst possible Trudy there was
Would we all have insecurity issues and be filled with angst?
Would we be a group of women that never grew past their teens?
If we were to compare our writings, would we see that it was all the same?
Are all Trudy's the same Trudy just repeated throughout time and space?
When we all meet each other will the earth implode?
I read that poem and read it again
I cried because the poet was sure that her Trudy would overcome the darkness
And I realized that no one believed I would do the same
Maybe that's a lie
Maybe I cried because I realized the darkness had already overcome me
My twin Trudy
Did the poet's faith prove justified?
