The Honda RS250 has a good reputation. This one was a piece of junk. Bought it for some reason, left it in the garage for a year, then sold it to a wee lad as a "good hill bike". NSJ 300 X |

This was a cool wee bike, I took it everywhere. I had a Kawasaki Z650 Chop at the time, but it never ran, so I used this a lot. Took it to Oban a couple of times (80 miles one way). The side stand broke off it shortly after I got it, so I cut a bit of wood to fit around the swinging arm to prop it up when I wasn't on it. Fell over once or twice, but it didn't matter. If you're wondering why there are so many Honda's here, it's because the only garage in town was a Honda dealer. The owner was Gods younger son, and is still going the last I heard. This was my baby. I had it longer than any other bike, and I think it ran for in total a year. I knew every nut and bolt, every wire (I had to rewire it), every gasket (two engine rebuilds). After the first engine rebuild I couldn't afford new gaskets, so I used the old ones (big mistake). It POURED oil out of it. I had to keep refilling it like every day. Oil would run off of it onto my legs and boots. I drained oil out of other bikes to keep it topped up when I was really broke (I was a student at the time). Kept it legal though, and only got pulled by the police the once. "Swift" built two of these. I'm not sure what happened to the other one. This is the one bike I wish I still had. Had to sell it when I moved to America. Some idiot in England has it now. Last I heard he had butchered it. EGB 818 X. |

This was another good bike, the much maligned Honda CX500. True, they had trouble with cam-chain tensioners, but that was in the early days. It was overweight and under powered, but it could still pull pretty good. Water cooled V-Twin opposed. Nice butch bike. The tail light is off of a Suzuki GT500. This one always had problems with the brakes sticking on. You had to pull over, take off the brake lever and hit the brake master cylinder to free off the piston when it over heated. Saw the discs glow red hot once. GNS 345 X. |
