Art and Craft of Lying

The Posthumous Adventures of Bill
Prompt: Tell a story from 3 or 4 points of view. At the center of the story is a dead body. Not cool enough? Add in the fact that I wrote this entirely sleep deprived. I don't even remember writing some of this stuff and when I read it in class I couldn't stop laughing. Written November 15, 2004.
Elevator Time
Prompt: Two people locked in an elevator. There is an obvious difference in power between the individuals. I wrote this as a joke, I was kinda depressed and wanted something outlandish to cheer me up. I never intended to read it. But it turned out to be the day prospective students come in, and someone brought their mom. I had to read it. Written November 6, 2004.
Bright Red
Prompt: Write a piece that has something to do with perception. This is my least favorite piece. It's illogical, poorly conceived, and uninteresting at best. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. Written October 16, 2004.
Calloused Tips
Prompt: Final Project. I chose to do a narrative song suite. This is a series of three songs chronicling the Adventures of Jonah and Blind Willie. After their favorite music store, The Cadence Stop closes down, these guys have nowhere to go. So they just start wandering. If you want, email me and I'll hook you up with the recordings. They're decent, I didn't like the last song's recording, because I was sick and did it in like 1 or 2 takes, but my teacher said it was the best one. I don't fucking know. I'm my own toughest critic. Written and revised between November 9 and December 11, 2004.

Intro to Writing

Senor Miguel vs. the FBI: A Short Story
Prompt: Write a short story. This is based on a true story. I won't say what's true or what's not. But this was a lot of fun to write, probably the most fun for this class. Written December 2, 2004.
