Lovely Lies
I’ll hold onto a memory, a flashing sight of bliss
Fleeting burn scarred me at first but truth healed by a kiss
Maybe I’m a foolish love reaching for what’s new
But I met the girl you were, I’m afraid to see what’s true.
Circumstances bring me to your room, curiosity kept me there
Walking in on a sleeping angel so perfect she wouldn’t care
So teach me how to smile for I felt it’s been too long
Funny that I met you wonderfully when everything else was wrong.
Promise me the world and say we’ll live forever
Lie to me to openly and that we’ll always be together
Don’t think my words bitter for I lied to you too
But my memories of our lies are happier than what is true.
