TOMIKI AIKIDO

Aikido, "The Way of Harmony," is a modern Japanese martial art
that utilizes joint locks, throws and
pins to control opponents. The art of Aikido emphasizes blending with and re-directing the
attackers
energy, ultimately neutralizing the assault. Because
Aikido does not rely on strength to stop an attack,
its self-defense applications are extremely effective against larger, more powerful
opponents. The art is
also known for its effectiveness when dealing with multiple attackers. The underlying goal of Aikido is
to resolve physical confrontation by controlling, rather than harming the aggressor. At Mondragons
School of Martial Arts, emphasis is placed on learning proper technique, timing and
self-defense
applications in a safe and positive environment.
