Mason is an English Pointer and was born on the 11th April 1999, found his new family in the June and was dubbed Mason Greebo before he even got to his new home. He soon after graduated from Puppy Pre-School with flying colours, made a guest appearance in Frasers' class, and then promptly forgot everything he had learned (well, when it suits...) and instead focussed on pointing at jasmine, lizards and everything else that moves, and chasing his tennis ball. He will stalk bird yard-invaders for hours.
Shortly after Masons' 1st Birthday he contracted Spinal Meningitis. We thought we'd lose him forever. The diagnosis came almost too late, it is apparently such a rarity in dogs. He had already been through many needles, drips, x-rays, blood tests, a lumber puncture, and an operation to remove a lump in his throat to try to determine what was wrong. We were unable to visit him in the hospital so that he didn't get over excited. This photo shows him nearly three months later, his fur still growing back from his operations and lots of weight to be gained.
Mason is now 3, but is still his 'Nannys' special little boy'. He is still obsessed with his tennis ball, but does swap it for the occasional kong. He keeps them all in a hole he has dug in the middle of the yard. He loves hunting butterflies, magpies and pigeons, going to the park, riding in the car, being fed by Cooper (his newest hooman), snoozing on the puppy-couch, snorting worms from the dirt, smooching his hoomans and hiding under the bed covers when the electric blanket is on. And nicking food from the kitchen. He also runs a mile when he sees Mum coming with one of those pesky cameras.....
