RP channel logs: Alviara
and Delionia
[RP]:
Alviara tosses and turns in her bunk as the ship rolls on but she
hardly notices it in her deep sleep.
[RP]:
(Alviara): The storm on the Sea of Winds seemed to be raging on
endlessly, dashing onto the tiny port of Camaar.
[RP]:
Delionia squints out of her window at the seemingly endless torrents
of rain viciously lashing the streets of Camaar.
[RP]:
Delionia sighs and turns away from the gloomy sight stretching out
before her, her thoughts already turning to the meeting she had
had with Lord Wylset earlier that very day. The two of them had
been worried about the long stretch of time that had gone past since
they had last heard from Alviara.
[RP]:
Delionia frowns in concern. It wasn't like Alvi not to write home
atleast once a week. Something must have gone drastically wrong.
[RP]:
Alviara turned in her sleep again. She was having a dream on the
Rivan beach, a place she adored.
[RP]:
Delionia mutters 'Well there's nothing you
can do about it now.'
[RP]:
Alviara could practically feel the smooth sand beneath her, the
lapping water and the wind in her hair.
[RP]:
Delionia yawns as she settles down into bed. Her thoughts still
focused on her missing friend, she tosses and turns, finally falling
into a restless doze.
[RP]:
(Delionia): The surrounding landscape is enveloped in a thick swirling
purple mist. Frowning in confusion, Delionia pushes her way forward
into the thick lavender clouds.
[RP]:
(Delionia): In a sudden flicker, the mist parts, dissolving into
wispy tendrils, displaying a beautiful secluded rocky beach.
[RP]:
Delionia stares around, her eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings,
and suddenly notices a familiar figure hunched over on the far side
of the beach.
[RP]:
Alviara brushes away the involuntary tears that have slipped down
her face and stares back at the shining sea.
[RP]:
Delionia gasps in astonishment.
[RP]:
Alviara hears someone
[RP]:
Delionia mutters 'It can't be.'
[RP]:
Alviara hears someone's footsteps behind her.
[RP]:
Alviara she turns slowly to see familiar pale blue eyes looking
at her curiously.
[RP]:
Delionia gasps in shock. Piercing green eyes stared back at her
in disbelief. Alvi? she whispers.
[RP]:
Alviara whispers 'Delionia?'
[RP]:
(Alviara): The waves crashed noisily on the shore in Alviara's dream,
sweeping away the sand. Alviara looked with surprise at Delionia
standing before her. Did I dream you in?
she whispers.
[RP]:
Delionia slumps down onto the sandy beach beside her childhood friend.
"I don't think so." she mutters.
"I think that I must've dreamwalked in
because I feel like I'm really here."
[RP]:
Alviara looks at Delionia and squints in confusion. "I
thought you could dreamwalk only on purpose, not by accident,"
she said.
[RP]:
Delionia shrugs helplessly. "You were
on my mind just before I fell asleep. That must have had something
to do with this I suppose."
[RP]:
Alviara nods.
[RP]:
Delionia says 'So what happened then? We haven't
heard from you in ages. You never wrote, you had us all worried
to death.'
[RP]:
Alviara sighed and looked out at the blue sea, trying to evade the
question but finally turned back to Delionia. I'm
on a ship back to Camaar right now. She said.
[RP]:
Delionia beams broadly at nothing in particular.
[RP]:
Alviara smiled weakly.
[RP]:
Delionia cries 'That's great! You'll be home
soon then.'
[RP]:
Alviara says 'I guess I will...'
[RP]:
Delionia suddenly catches sight of the strange expression in Alviara's
striking green eyes. "What's the matter
Alvi? What's wrong?" she asks in concern, the broad
smile vanishing from her face.
[RP]:
Alviara could feel her eyes growing moist and averted her gaze to
prevent Delionia from seeing her crying.
[RP]:
Alviara fingered the chain around her neck, her mind confused at
what to say.
[RP]:
Delionia notices for the first time the ring dangling from a silver
chain around Alviara's neck. Curious, she reaches out and touches
the smooth surface of the gleaming opal set into it.
[RP]:
(Delionia): "It's beautiful."
Delionia says softly. "Who gave it to
you?"
[RP]:
Alviara lets the tears stream down her face openly, but her voice
is too choked to reply. She closes her eyes.
[RP]:
(Alviara): The beach around them blurs and fades away. Delionia
looks around in surprise.
[RP]:
(Alviara): Flashes of pictures dance around her. Alviara in a green
silk dress, and a young man watching her. Alviara running in a field
of golden wheat with the same man running behind her...and finally
Alviara standing by a waterfall kissing the man.
[RP]:
Alviara closed her eyes, letting her mind form the images of her
and Naevin that were flashing all around them. Funny what all dreams
can let you do. She thought at the same time.
[RP]:
Delionia stares around bewildered, as more and more images begin
to flash and swirl around her.
[RP]:
(Alviara): The images continued, Alviara at a wedding, smiling in
her pink gown, Alviara clutching a shining opal ring in her hand,
and a wet Naevin peering down at her. The Alviara by her bedside,
holding a red rosebud.
[RP]:
(Alviara): The pictures winked out after seconds, only to be replaced
by more. Alviara by a small cottage, then inside the door, and finally
in a room reading a letter, tears streaming down her face.
[RP]:
Delionia whispers "Alvi?..What.. I mean..
I.. I don't understand.''
[RP]:
Alviara opened her eyes and sank into the sand. The last image of
her running away from the cottage winked out above her.
[RP]:
Alviara looks up at Delionia standing in front of her, confusion
clouding her sapphire eyes.
[RP]:
(Delionia): It was raining in Muros. A soft gentle drizzle sifted
down out of the morning sky and enveloped the sleepy city, leaving
it gleaming with a silvery sheen.
[RP]:
Delionia yawns and strains to keep her eyes open. She had been travelling
for over two days now without rest and the lack of sleep was now
catching up with her.
[RP]:
Delionia leans her head against the smooth brown neck of the young
stallion she had purchased in Camaar. She closes her eyes, yawning
again. 'Gares is going to owe me one when
this is all over' she mutters under her breath.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara takes a long drink of water from her leather waterskin and
nods. "It's a very long way to Algaria."
She said with a note of resignation in her voice.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): Alviara's black mare neighed in response to her sentence,
and then pulled forward, leading the pair towards the gates of Muros
that opened the road to Algaria.
[RP]:
(Delionia): A few hours later, Delionia notices with a start, the
drastic change in the scenery around them. Extensive golden brown
plains now rolled along either side of the road. They had reached
Algaria.
[RP]:
Delionia reaches over and pokes Alviara awake. "Wake
up sleepyhead. We're almost there. Is the ring safe?"
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara jolts suddenly and then glances around herself interestedly.
"Not bad, we made it in good time."
She yawns and stretches her arms.
[RP]:
Delionia smiles wryly at her friend. "Well
you slept through it all. How anyone can fall asleep on a moving
horse is beyond me,"
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara sniffs, looking insulted. " You're
just jealous that you can't do something nicer than stare at the
scenery."
[RP]:
Delionia rolls her eyes, disgusted.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara ignores her friend's childish retort and proceeds to untie
the thread holding the soft blue velvet pouch around her waist together.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): The sun's rays make the object inside it gleam with brightness,
and Alviara reaches out carefully and lifts it up in the air to
examine it.
[RP]:
Delionia stares transfixed at the gleaming object in Alviara's palm.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" she says
quietly.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara slips the mysterious ring onto her finger and looks intently
at the stone studded on it.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): The green jade was glimmering in the heat of the Algarian
sun, looking very much like one of her own eyes to Alviara.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara sighs and slips the ring back into the pouch. "I
hope we're able to find out more about this ring."
[RP]:
Delionia nods in response. She leans forward in her saddle and squints
at a lone dark speck on the horizon.
[RP]:
Delionia says 'That must be it. It's exactly
where Gares said it would be.'
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara nods her head in response trying to make out the shape of
the healer's caravan from this distance.
[RP]:
Delionia says 'Hopefully, she'll be able to
give us some answers.'
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): It took them atleast another half hour of continuous riding
before the black speck in the distance began to take a recognizable
shape.
[RP]:
(Delionia): As the two riders near the caravan, a tall slender woman
with flowing brown hair, and dressed in pale turquoise robes steps
out into the glaring Algarian sun.
[RP]:
(Delionia): The healer smiles gently. "Welcome
Adventurers, I've been expecting you."
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara suspiciously sniffs the sweet tea she was holding in a blue
china cup in her hand. "Chamomile",
The healer said, with a merry laugh. Alviara smiled and took a sip.
Flowery, she thought.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara warmed the cup between her hands and began to take a look
around. The caravan seemed a lot more bigger and cosy on the inside
with fluttering white gauze curtains and blue floor cushions.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara Her gaze wandered to the curious artefacts on the table
by the bed, little bottles of coloured powders and dishes and jars
of herbs. Tiny statues of birds and animals were placed artistically,
expressing a mystical significance.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): Her gaze wandered to the curious artefacts on the table
by the bed, little bottles of coloured powders and dishes and jars
of herbs. Tiny statues of birds and animals were placed artistically,
expressing a mystical significance.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): She and Delionia were seated on a few of the satin floor
pillows, quietly sipping the strange tea the healer had poured for
them, waiting with suspense in their silence.
[RP]:
Delionia coughed and spluttered as the warm fiery tea scorched its
way down her throat. Hastily setting her cup down, she nudged her
dark haired friend on the cushion beside her.
[RP]:
Delionia glanced over to where the healer was surveying them calmly
through expressionless eyes. "Show her the
ring already." she hissed in her friends ear.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara startled out of her keen observation and nodded slightly
at her friends urgent whisper. She quickly reached over and untied
the pouch in which the ring was safely kept away and deposited it
onto her palm.
[RP]:
(Delionia): There was a sharp intake of breath as the healer suddenly
leaned forward and lifted the ring from Delionia's palm, keen interest
blazing in her amber eyes. Her long dark hair fell forward, veiling
her expression as she studied the object in her hands.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): (The healer) "Where did you find
this ring?"
[RP]:
Delionia frowns as she struggles to remember the name of the obscure
town in which she had come across the ring.
[RP]:
Delionia says 'Jarot! That's it. I was passing
through Jarot on my way home to Camaar and I chanced across it in
the chambers of the Grolim Hierarch.'
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): The healer spun a sphere over the ring and then looked
up. "What were you doing in the chambers of
the Hierarch?"
[RP]:
Delionia chuckles guiltily. "Erm..."Adventurers's
business", I assure you that it was necessary at the time."
[RP]:
Delionia scuffs her foot in the dirt, looking very sheepish.
[RP]:
Delionia continues 'Well anyway, I was going
through some of his documents when I found a grey silk pouch tucked
away below them.'
[RP]:
Delionia says 'I untied it and an ornately
carved key fell out.'
[RP]:
Delionia says 'As i picked up the ring I noticed
a tiny hole in the mahogany of his desk, scarcely noticable at first.
'
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara says '"Ring?
You mean key, Del." Alviara chuckled. "Confused
little soul."'
[RP]:
Delionia smiles wryly. "Yes, I meant key.
Forgive me, it appears that I am more tired than i thought. As i
was saying, I fit the key into the hole, turned it, and out tumbled
the ring, wrapped tightly in silver tissue."
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): The healer smiled breifly and then tilted her head in
thought.
[RP]:
Delionia says 'I brought it back to Camaar
and Gares advised me to bring to you.'
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara says "What do you think then? Is it
anything special?"
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): Silence descended in the room now, as Delionia completed
her tale of how she had come to possess the ring. Alviara fidgeted
nervously, watching the healer pass the ring from one hand to another.
[RP]:
(Delionia): The healer was silent for a while, her amber eyes grave
as she closely inspected the object in her hands, oblivious to the
anxious stares of the two sorceresses sitting before her.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): She whispered something softly and the stone glinted bright
green. "Of course." She whispered. Then looking
triumphant she looked up and said, "Follow
me."
[RP]:
Delionia exchanges a confused glance with Alviara and nervously
gets to her feet, smoothening out her robes as she follows the healer
out of the room with Alviara closely in tow.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): They followed her outside to a place behind her caravan.
Alviara frowned as she saw a crystal pool, glinting in the sunlight,
obviously something magical. The healer tucked up her turquoise
robes and knelt down beside it.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): The healer looked up and beckoned Delionia towards her
silently.
[RP]:
Delionia gave a nervous start and after a moment's hesitation walked
slowly over to join the Algar at the pool's edge.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): (The healer) "Take the ring and
swirl it into the water."
[RP]:
Delionia lifted the jade ornament from the healer's outstretched
hand and unsteadily dipped it into the water, wincing at the liquid's
icy cold touch.
[RP]:
Maiden
Alviara watched intently as the healer mutttered something under
her breath.
[RP]:
(Maiden
Alviara): The water turned a pale green, and then grew brighter
and then in a flash was clear once again. But something was different,
the surface was flat, as if solid and shining like a mirror, but
it wasn't the surroundings it was reflecting.
[RP]:
Delionia gasps in astonishment.
[RP]:
Delionia shielded her eyes from the dazzling brilliance of the glowing
pool and slowly leaned over the edge only to gaze into a pair of
extremely familiar pale blue eyes.
