RP channel logs: Kinath,
Siaden
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden had arrived in Tol Rane earlier today, a week after
leaving Camaar.
[RP]:
(Siaden): She is awaiting the night in a shabby tavern in the outskirts
of the town. It had been a hassle, but she found the noble; Lathan.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Now she was waiting to see if any of his other contacts
were going to take the job.
[RP]:
Siaden thinks 'Like I need any help...if anyone
shows they'll probably just get in my way anyway.'
[RP]:
Kinath walks down the road. It's getting late, he notes as he looks
up at the sky.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Lashan had asked him for this favor, but Kinath didn't
like it. He worked best alone. Grumbling, he headed for the tavern
door.
[RP]:
Kinath walked into the tavern and stopped, as if he were looking
for someone or something.
[RP]:
Siaden is sitting laone in a corner of the bar, slowly nursing a
drink.
[RP]:
Siaden notices the stranger walk in, but makes no movement.
[RP]:
Kinath scans the faces of the patrons. None of them looked particularly
interested in him.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Noticing the lone girl in the corner, his eyes narrow
slightly. She matched the description, all right.
[RP]:
Kinath walks over to her and stands for a moment, then sits without
being invited.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'You must be the mute.'
[RP]:
Siaden takes drinks from her mug and doesn't look up.
[RP]:
Siaden glances at Kinath, then waves the barkeep to bring the stranger
a drink.
[RP]:
Kinath raises an eyebrow. This job might prove to be more than he
bargained for.
[RP]:
Siaden looks flatly at Kinath, trying to judge his ability or lack
there of.
[RP]:
Kinath returns the girl's gaze evenly.
[RP]:
Siaden nods.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'So how are we s'posed to do this?
You being a mute, and all?'
[RP]:
Kinath laughs.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'I guess you can't answer that.'
[RP]:
Siaden glares at Kinath, annoyed.
[RP]:
Kinath raises his hands apologetically.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'Sorry kid. Just making an observation.'
[RP]:
Siaden shakes her head dismissingly.
[RP]:
Siaden takes a long drink from her mug, then gets up nonchalantly.
She would wait outside for Kinath to join her after an appropriate
period of time.
[RP]:
Kinath watches the girl walk out, and waits for a moment before
standing.
[RP]:
Kinath glances around the room, then walks out the door to join
the mute. This would be an interesting night, no doubt.
[RP]:
Siaden steps out from the shadows and nods.
[RP]:
Kinath nods in return.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'After you.'
[RP]:
Siaden turns to the direction of the offending noble and begins
walking, sticking to the shadows and walls.
[RP]:
Siaden thinks why did that fool Lathan have to go and get his precious
family heirloom stolen? This is a waste of my abilities.
[RP]:
Siaden pauses and holds her breath as a city guard walks by.
[RP]:
Kinath instinctively does the same, following a decent distance
behind the girl. Lathan hadn't told him what this was about, but
he paid good money for Kinath's services.
[RP]:
Siaden hesitates outside the large, (largely ornamental) gate of
her targets mansion.
[RP]:
Siaden waits impatiently for Kinath to catch up with her. There
are two guards outside the gate for them to deal with.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Lathan had given him some sketchy details, but the actually
"why" of the situation, Kinath hadn't bothered to ask.
[RP]:
Kinath notices the guards, and silently stops just behind the mute,
waiting for her cue to move.
[RP]:
Siaden points at the guards, specifically the one on the left, then
begins circling to the right.
[RP]:
Kinath nods slightly, and moves to circle behind the one on the
left.
[RP]:
(Siaden): One of the guards tenses as he hears a soft sound somewhere
in the darkness around him, but can't seem to locate anything anywhere
around him.
[RP]:
Kinath stops and waits for the guard to relax before moving again.
[RP]:
Siaden notices Kinath's guard turned away, and steps out and strikes
her's over the head with the hilt of her dagger.
[RP]:
(Siaden): the sound of his guard mate crumpling makes the first
guard turn in alarm, he is suprised to see Siaden standing in front
of him grinning.
[RP]:
(Siaden): The guard adopts an attacking stance and begins to approach
Siaden slowly with his pike outstreched.
[RP]:
Kinath makes his move while the guard's back is turned. Taking his
cue from the mute girl, he too strikes the guard over the head with
the hilt of his dagger.
[RP]:
Siaden nods at Kinath.
[RP]:
Kinath nods in return, and waits for the girl to move again.
[RP]:
Siaden thinks 'Now we just have to get over
the gate and into the house, hope this man isn't afraid of heights.'
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden nimbly climbs up and over the gate, landing softly
she moves quickly to look for more guards.
[RP]:
(Siaden): She is gone in the darkness for a moments, then another
resouding THAWK is heard, followed by a dull thump.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden returns to the gate and grins at Kinath.
[RP]:
Kinath raises an eyebrow and scales the wall after her. Reaching
the top, he steps off lightly, landing in a crouch.
[RP]:
Siaden nods at Kinath. "Well, seems he
might do alright after all," she thinks.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden and Kinath head quietly towards the front of the
mansion.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden pulls out a grappling hook and throws it to the
roof, making a steely clatter. She waits a moment, but no-one comes.
Testing the rope she grunts in satisfaction.
[RP]:
Siaden motions for Kinath to go first while she watches for any
other guards.
[RP]:
Kinath nods and climbs the rope effortlessly. He carefully checks
the roof, then turns to look down at the girl, nodding that it was
all clear.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden takes a quick look around, then scales to the roof.
She pulls up the rope and leaves the hook in place for their exit.
[RP]:
Siaden motions to the left.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden and Kinath head towards a third story balcony,
and nimbly climb down onto it. It was time to find Lathan's damn
ornamental dagger.
[RP]:
(Siaden): They quietly enter a lavish bedroom, thankfully unoccupied
at the moment. Kinath leans up against the door listening for activity
in the hallway. Satisfied, he nods to Siaden, takes a quick breath
then opens the door and quickly steps out into the hall.
[RP]:
Kinath carefully checks the hallway for guards, or anyone else that
might happen to be wandering around.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Satisfied that it's clear, he steps back inot the room
and motions to the mute tocome ahead.
[RP]:
Siaden nods.
[RP]:
(Siaden): They step out into the hallway, noticing it looks equally
nondescript in both directions. Siaden shrugs, points up the hallway,
then beings to head down it.
[RP]:
Kinath nods. He heads up the hallway away from the girl. "Good
call" he thinks. Splitting up will make it go much quicker.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden sneaks along the hallway slowly, with her hand
ready at her dagger in case of trouble. The house is eerily quiet.
[RP]:
Kinath stops at a door, and listens carefully. Hearing no one inside,
he glances up and down the hall, then slips silently into the room.
[RP]:
(Kinath): A small sound makes him look up sharply and stop dead
in his tracks. He'd stumbled upon a sleeping woman. Silently cursing
himself, he goes around the room silently, peeking in drawers, looking
through the closets.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Finding nothing, he leaves the room as quietly as he'd
entered, and continues up the hallway.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden quietly and quickly enters the first room she reaches.
A lavish bathroom. She groans inwardly, sweeps across it with her
vision just in case, then returns to the hallway.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Coming to another door, he again listens for a moment,
then silently opens the door.
[RP]:
Siaden thinks 'Don't know why that fool noble
told me this would be dangerous, I hardly call a few stupid gaurds
dangerous..'
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden comes to another door, and enters the room carelessly
distracted in her thoughts. She gasps as she realizes her mistake.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Quickly looking around she sighs in relief, luckily the
room was empty.
[RP]:
(Kinath): A quick glance tells him this room is empty. Breathing
a sigh of relief, he checks this room more thoroughly than the last.
[RP]:
(Siaden): A study. She beings searching.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Finding nothing, he is about to leave the room, when something
catches his eye.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Under the bed was a small, dusty box. Kinath quickly pulls
it out from under the bed, and looks at it for a moment.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Finding nothing, Siaden mutters in her thoughts. She turns
to leave when suddenly she finds herself on the floor, a sharp ache
in the back of her skull.
[RP]:
(Siaden): She tries to stand, but can't get her muscles to respond.
The pain is lancing through her.
[RP]:
(Kinath): The box was plain, and not locked. Opening it, he finds
the dagger they'd been searching for. His joy at discovering it,
however, fades when he hears a shout and a thud.
[RP]:
(Kinath): Grabbing the dagger, he leaves the room and rushes down
the hall in the direction of the mute girl.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Confused, she can't understand whats going on. For a moment
she doesn't realize what shes doing here, then suddenly remembers
everything.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden manages to roll over to find a large burly man
with an ugly blade standing over her grinning.
[RP]:
Kinath skids to a halt, and swears profusely at the guard standing
over the mute. Pulling his dagger out of his sheath, he throws it
at the guard's unprotected back.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden breathes a sigh of relief. She can't believe someone
actually snuck up on her, that she let herself get that distracted.
[RP]:
Kinath quickly retrives his dagger, then offers the girl a hand,
pulling her to her feet.
[RP]:
Siaden nods at Kinath, a lightly sheepishly. Time later to be sullen
over her mistake however, they needed to leave now.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'Are you ok?'
[RP]:
Siaden sighs, and nods at Kinath. She touches his shoulder lightly
by way of thanks.
[RP]:
Kinath nods. Looking around for more guardshe starts off down the
hall.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'I found it. Now let's get out
of here quickly.'
[RP]:
Siaden nods.
[RP]:
(Siaden): They quickly head down the hall to the room the first
entered. Coming out to the balcony, Siaden hooks her grappling hook
securly and then descends.
[RP]:
Kinath quickly follows suit. Once on the ground, he hands the jewelled
dagger over to the girl.
[RP]:
(Siaden): Siaden looks at the dagger, surprised, she shakes her
head and hands it back to Kinath. He found it, not her. She managed
to get herself hit.
[RP]:
Kinath raises an eyebrow, then shrugs.
[RP]:
Kinath says 'Up to you.'
[RP]:
(Siaden): They quickly but carefully leave the property the way
the came in, and head off into the night in the direction of Lathan's
place.
