Scene 1
[As you look back on a memory you see a young Ordici being kicked out of his house.]
Father: Ordici, I can no longer afford to keep you under this roof. You are going to have to go out and find your own way
Ordici: But Father, I have no money, No work! What am I going to do?
[You see dad just slam the door in his face and you wonder how so loving a father could do this. But then you remember that life is harsh, and just fail to sympathise.
Five years later you see young Ordici graduating from his ranger training. After getting a job leading a merchant to Seline, poor Ordici gets lost. The merchant and Orcici are set upon by bandits and Ordici is knocked unconscious and the Merchant is killed. When Ordici comes to he sees only the dead body of the merchant lying on the ground and shakes his head in disbelief.]

Scene 2
[As we come back to the scene Ordici has just put the poor dead merchant in a rock filled grave. He starts to wander around without thought as to where he is going when he finally spies a cliff in the distance.
When Ordici gets to the top of the cliff he takes a long look down. He stands there for what seems like hours to him, but you know it has only been a few seconds. He starts to tremble and then falls back screaming.]

Ordici: AHHHHH!!! Why can't I do anything right! I get lost on my first job. And I can't seem to find the courage to kill myself right!! What is wrong with me!
[Just then Ordici hears a low growl behind him. While he wasn't looking, a bear had approached him from behind unawares.
The bear takes a swipe at Ordici and Ordici dives to the right and comes up after a roll with his sword in hand. The fight lasts all of one minute, but Ordici is sure it has been all day when he finally pulls his sword from the dying carcass. Just as Ordici wipes his blade on his fallen foe he hears a voice behind him.]

Voice: Well, just what have we here? Ahhh. Hey Reidia take a look at this Urchin. Can you believe he nabbed that bear?
Ordici: Nothing that matters to you old man!
[Just then one of the most beautiful women you have ever laid eyes on walks up from behind the man. Ordici seems to shake a little and you can tell that he is scared.]
Reidia: Hmmph. What do you think? Is he the one?
Man: I hope not. This snot nosed brat couldn't be. (To Ordici) Boy, what is your name?
Ordici: (drawing his sword) What's it to you old man? Think you can sell me to the Nyssians? I would die first.
Reidia: Man, Floyd is going to answer for this one. Look, kid, we were sent here to find someone. You may be that one. Is your name Ordici by any chance?
Ordici: (stuttering at being addressed by such a beautiful woman) Y... yes Mmmam. W... What ab…bout it?
Man: (motioning to himself) I am Wylset, (motioning towards Reidia) this is Reidia. We were sent to find you Ordici. For some reason someone of importance wants to see you. Floyd said we were to find you and send you to Camaar, to the Adventurers Guild. You are to announce yourself to the guard their and they will see you meet who you are supposed to there.
Ordici: How am I to get there. I have no clue where I am.
All of the sudden Reidia reaches out and grab's Ordici's Arm. One second he is at the cliffs, the next he is in front of some building in a busy city.
Reidia: Just announce yourself to that man (thumbs over her shoulder to an old man in uniform) and he will see where you need to go. I must get back to Wylset for we have things that need taking care of. Goodbye Ordici.
[Reidia kisses Ordici on his cheek, like a sister would and then mutters something you can't here and all of the sudden she disappears. Ordici makes his way to the guard and announces himself. As the scene fades you see Ordici follow another guard into the keep.]

Scene 3
[When we last saw Ordici he was following the Adventure's gate gaurd into the Main Hall. You can see Ordici looking around really impressed with the place.]
Guard: Wait right here young man and I will see if the Doyen will see you now.
[Ordici sits on a Marble bench awaiting the return of the guard. As he does he sees a Merchant carting his wares out the door. Just then the guard comes back and motions for Ordici to follow.
Ordici follows the guard up into the second story of the building. From here, you can see a great view of the Camaar city wall. The guard approaches a huge double door and knocks he then leaves young Ordici standing alone.]

Deep Male Voice: (forcefully) Enter.
[Ordici opens the doors and enters a big meeting hall. There is a long table set with the width of the table facing the door. There is an assortment of chairs on the opposite side and all are filled.]
Ordici: (addressing the council) Excuse me honoured sirs. (noticing a couple of ladies) And madams. I have no clue as to what I am doing here. A lady named Reidia told me I was needed here.
Man seated at the middle chair of the table: Young Ordici. We have heard of you. I must say that merchant that you got killed was a problem. But we have been looking for you for some time. We might have a proposition for you.
Ordici: Sir? A proposition... I am not that kind of guy M'lord. I think you found the wrong man.
[The hall breaks out in laughter as the speaker shoots Ordici a woebegone look.]
Speaker: Young man I think you misjudge me... err… Us. Let me spell it out for you. My name is Doyen Mortiris and we see some promise in you. Humour not withstanding. You are to be given an opportunity young man. We see some promise in you. And we think you might amount to something... with the proper training.
Ordici: Promise in me?
Doyen: Yes, in you… Hard as it is to believe. Come take a seat and we will tell you all about it.
[The scene ends as you see Ordici led to a chair at the far end of the table. He and the Doyen start up a conversation.]

Scene 4
[Ordici was last seen walking down the Great Western Road towards Tol Rane. As you see this scene unfold, you notice that Ordici is in Ye Ol' Leather Shop and he approaches Stitch.]
Stitch: Well, what's all this then lad?
Ordici Excuse me Is there a Mr. Stitch here by any chance?
Stitch: Aye, I be Stitch. What can I do ya for?
Ordici:(removing a letter from a delivery pouch) Sir, my Master Doyen Mortiris has asked me to undertake this small commission and to deliver this letter to you.
Stitch: Well, well, well. What have we here?
(He opens the document and takes out a rolled parchment. Stitch breaks the seal of wax and reads the message. Stitch's eyes almost pop out of his head and he turns and looks hard at Ordici.)
Do you know what you have here lad?
Ordici: Something that my Master thought that I should take to you. I am not in the habit of reading other people's mail.
Stitch: That's a credit to ya son. But let me tell you, this has some importance to it. It concerns you a great deal!
Ordici: (looking confused) Sir? What does that there letter have to do with me?
Stitch: Well, son, let me tell ya. (clears his throat) “Stitch, I hope this letter finds you and yours in good health. About that matter that you told me about I think I have found somebody that can help you. The young man you see before you is Our newest recruit. He doesn't know it yet, but you know what to do. Give him what he needs and then set him on his path. I hope this matter can be resolved soon. Continuing the tradition, Doyen Mortiris.”
(Stitch goes into a back room in his shop leaving a stunned Ordici standing in the middle of the room with his jaw dropped open. Speechless, Ordici doesn't move until Stitch hands him a list, and a pin.)
The pin signifies you are part of the Adventurers now lad. This isn't the first time a raw recruit has entered muh shop. Now as to the matter pertained to in this letter...

Scene 5
[When last we saw Ordici he was just getting some instructions on something important from Stitch. Let's rejoin our hero from where last we left him.]
Stitch: You see Ordici, I had something taken from me about two days ago. I know the poor urchin who took this item, and I feel sorry for the lass, but, well, I really need this thing back before the end of the week. Can you help me?
Ordici: Well sir, I will do what I can, but what exactly is it that I am looking for and who?
Stitch: Well you see, she was my apprentice. Just two days ago she left and didn't come back. Then when I went to go get my extra duty steel needle, well I find it missing. The Lass's name is Laughly and she has a hidey-hole in a tree about half an hour away. Off to the east of this very city. Now when you get into her tree you will need to go down about two levels. Stairs are on the west side of the hole. You might need this to open the trap.
[Stitch hands Ordici a Key. It is golden and on the handle is what appears to be a pot of honey.]
Ordici: Ok sir, I will be back within 2 days to return to you what is yours. You can count on me.
[As we leave young Ordici you see that he is heading out the door. You get a last look at a worried Stitch.]

Scene 6
[As we last left Ordici he was seen leaving Ye Ol'e Leather Shop, on a Mission for Stitch. Now let's rejoin our hero.
As the scene unfolds you see Ordici going out of the East Gate to Tol Rane. Outside the gate, he keeps going east. Finally he reaches a big tree with an ornate door on the front of it.]

Ordici: Ok Stitch told me that this key (holds up the key with the handle that looks like a honey pot) will get me where I want to go. Well, here goes!
[Ordici moves to the side of the door and draws his dagger. With his free hand he gently puts the key in the lock and silently counts to three. He slowly turns the key. You hear an audible click and suddenly the door flies open outward. Ordici dives to the left just in time to dodge an arrow that flies right through the place where his head just was. His instincts save him again as he rips open a bleeding chest wound to a Dagashi assassin as the assassin was rushing out the door. Leaving his dagger stuck in this piece of meat, Ordici dives through the door and confronts a girl with her hands behind her back.]
Ordici: You know what I came for, Now you're gonna give it to me.
Laughly: Hey you're not going to get that. I am saving myself for someone special (a thought bubble forms above her and you see a picture of Prince Kheldar).
Ordici: Laughly, I came for Stitch's heavy duty steel needle.
Laughly: You killed my father and now you want what I took fair and square?
Ordici: You know what I want. Hand it over, or the tree will burn.
[As the scene starts to fade you see Laughly start to sob as she hands over the steel needle. She then rushes to her father's corpse. As Ordici passes her by he pulls hard on his dagger and you hear a suction-like sound as the dagger is pulled from the chest of the assassin. Ordici walks away and you see he wipes a tear from his eye as he heads back into Tol Rane.]

Scene 7
[The last time we saw our hero Ordici he had just gotten the heavy duty steel needle from Laughly. Now let's rejoin him on his way back to Ye Ole' Leather Shop.
Ordici is seen walking back into Tol Rane through the East Gateas a guard approaches from the north.]

Guard: Excuse me young man. But you are just in from the west. We were told that there was a report of some character who was an assassin in the vicinity. You didn't happen to pass bye him did ya?
Ordici: Yes sir, I did. But he won't be looking for anybody now!
Guard: What do you mean by that young man?
Ordici: Well sir, just that he zigged when he should have zagged!
Guard: Meaning what young man?
Ordici: Meaning sir, that if you would have left the pastry show sooner you might have caught up to that assassin. I was on my way back from an errand when this assassin jumped me and I put three inches of steel in him. If you would go two leagues to the east you might find him.

Scene 8
Guard: Son, you have just about worked my last nerve!
Ordici: I knew that you have lost all nerve, Sir, because anybody wearing that uniform lost all theirs years ago!
[You see the guard’s face turn red and take a swing at Ordici with his pike. Alas But poor Ordici zagged when he should have zigged. The blade of the pike cut Ordici on his chin lightly and blood started oozing down.]
Ordici: Tell me, you pastry eating lard, why I shouldn't just cut your throat right here for attacking me?
Guard: You little twit you just don't have the nerve. You couldn't kill me because I know you are yellow!
[Just as Ordici was about to reply, the merchant that the guard was talking to tried to help the guard out. The merchant went to tackle Ordici, but just at that instant he tripped on a rock. The merchant’s trip sent him into Ordici's weapon arm and ended sending Ordici's dagger into the throat of the guard. Ordici seeing this just dropped the guard and walked away. Muttering to himself you could here him say, "why me?" Ordici just got done defending himself from the guard when an agent of the King walks up to him.]
Attendant: Young man, I saw the whole thing. I know you egged that guard on, but that gave him no right to attack you. You will not be held responsible for his death.
Ordici: Sir, as you said, I was just defending myself. Could you please give his family these four gold coins. Tell them that it will be all he will be able to give them for the rest of his life because of his stupidity.
[Ordici then makes his way over to Ye Olde' Leather Shop and enters the store. Stitch is about to close up for the night when he sees Ordici enter his store.]
Stitch: Did ya get it son?
Ordici: Yeah I got it. Now as to the payment in for getting it to you on time…
Stitch: Right you are son, right you are. You see, I will be sending it to Doyen Mortiris. But you can convey my thanks and deliver this letter to him for me. (Stitch hands Ordici a letter pouch.) Now let me go ahead and take care of that cut on your chin and you can tell me all that happened.
[Ordici hands over the Heavy Duty Steel Needle. The scene fades as you see Ordici getting stitched by Stitch. All the while you can hear Ordici's cry's of pain.]

Scene 9
[The last we saw Ordici he was at Ye Olde' Leather Shop in Tol Rane telling Flick how he got Flick's Heavy Duty Steel Needle back from Laughly. As we rejoin our hero he is just entering Camaar and has turned on to the road that leads to the Adventurers hall.]
Guard: Welcome back Ordici. Glad to see you safely back.
Ordici: Well sir, I am glad to be back. My first mission was a success. Anything new going on around here?
Guard: Not much. But you better get in to see Mortiris right away. When you didn't come back last night he got very worried. Reidia is getting packed to go look for ya son.
Ordici: I was afraid of that. The rain was so bad in Sendar last week I had to stop at a farm for the night. An old man named Faldor let me sleep in his loft and eat at his table. When I went to pay him he said not to worry. Said "I ain't never made a traveller pay to stay on a night like this. And you won't be the first son." Really nice man that one.
Guard: Ahh yes. Heard he served a great table to. Daughter by the name of Zubrette. Married to a Good man named Rundorig. Yep. Heard of 'im. You better get inside. You wouldn't want to keep Doyen Mortiris waiting.
[As Ordici enters the hall you hear the Guard yell after him "And find Reidia too. Let her know she can stop packing." As Ordici makes his way into the hall the scene fades. The guard thanks Belar for the return of the youngest Adventurer.]

Scene 10
[Ordici makes his way into the keep. As he goes through the long halls of the keep he starts to reminisce about his first days there. Just when he is starting to remember a time when he was being scolded for offering a frog of all things to Reidia he hears his name called from behind.]
Reidia: Ordici. We thought you might have been lost. Thank the gods you are back... What happened to your chin?
Ordici: Nice to see you to. And I am ok. My chin is ok. Some stupid guard at Tol Rane attacked me when he found out I am a better policeman than him. I will tell you all about it later. Got to go see Doyen.
Reidia: Good. Now I can get back to the wedding plans. (She giggles) Go report young man!
[Ordici salutes and walks away as Reidia turns down a near hallway. He remembers the crush he had on her when he was younger. He thought it was love then, but now knows it was nothing more than a child’s fantasy. He remembers how he used to follow her around like a puppy, causing her to go into fits of distraction and was amazed at her anger at times. Ordici turns down a hallway and runs into Urmela.]
Urmela: Ordici, Where have you been? Nevermind that. Mortiris is going out of his mind. You should have been back yesterday. Go report and let him know you are all right. We can talk later!
[Ordici shakes his head in wonder. Urmela. One of his trainers. At sixteen, he remembers three years ago when he first appeared in the council chambers on a summons from Mortiris. She had laughed when Ordici misjudged a comment made by Mortiris. They had gotten along well since then. As Ordici passes an open room, he sees Wylset training another member only being with the Adventurers a short time. It's his good friend, Maochro. From all the bruises on Maochro, Ordici knows that an extensive drill is in motion. Not wanting to interrupt, he moves on down the hall and goes up a staircase.
As Ordici approaches a door he knows well, having to show up hear upon occasion for some misguided stunt or another, you can see him stop to think some more. He thinks it is good to be home. And with a sigh he knocks on the door and you hear Doyen Mortiris' voice say “Enter”. As the scene fades you watch Ordici open the door to give the first of many reports he will be making in this room for his lifetime.]

Scene 11
[As we last left Ordici he was following Mortiris through the hallways of the halls trembling in fear. Mortiris didn't say a word or even appear to notice Ordici following him as he started to climb the stairs leading to the North Turret. Mortiris expected Ordici to follow, and follow Ordici did.
As Mortiris leads Ordici out to the turret he calmly leans on top of the turret wall looking out over the city of Cammar. Ordici follows his example dreading what was coming next.]

Mortiris: On a clear day like this you can see for miles. The people walking through the streets, the hills in the distance, and the countryside that I like to call home.
(With one final look around Mortiris looks down at Ordici and almost seems surprised at the sight. With a sigh Mortiris looks out across the vast countryside and begins to speak again.)
Mortiris: You are still so young. Not yet eight and ten years of age. You may have no Idea about the meaning of what I am about to tell you. But one day, when you are older, the time will come when you get into a situation and remember this conversation. Ordici, you are the youngest of the clan. Most novices are just starting here at twenty years of age. But I heard about you, about how you were thrown out at thirteen. I was told about how you were a failure at your job, how you never complained, and how you had lost faith. That was when I gave a message to Floyd to have Reidia and Wylset find you. I had heard you had potential, and with the proper training you could go far. And now here you are. Three years later, one of us, and your first mission completed. It was a success, but I am fearful.
Ordici: Fearful of what , Mortiris? My mission was a success. I got the job done. Sure I had to get some stitches, but I did ok.
Mortiris: And now you are confident. Maybe too confident for your safety. You did a great job at the task I set you. Not only that but you survived a Dagashi Assassin. Your have earned some pride. But it is also bad to have too much pride. Son, you have to recognize when a situation gets to hot and you have to bail. You have to learn how to decide to choose between the lesser of two evils. You have to learn that some things you just can't handle alone. I am afraid that the time will come when you get in over your head and you will be a liability. Not just to yourself, but to all of those around you. Do you understand what I mean?
Ordici: Yeah... Ummmmm... Sure I do Mortiris. (Thinks to himself: That's Mortiris for you. Always trying to get you down when you do something good. When you make a great move in sword practice he doesn't just say 'nice job'... Nooo he says 'But what if they come at you like this' and then taps you so hard with the wooden stick that it leaves a bruise for a month.) But Sir, I would never be overconfident. I know how to call for help if I need it?
Mortiris: The time will come when you remember these words. I just hope that they don't find you at the wrong time. Ordici, You have been promoted. No longer are you just an apprentice, you are now a Journeyman. The council voted last night. Congratulations. You do us proud son.
Ordici: Sir I thank you! I have been waiting for this for a long time. I can't wait to go tell Maochro!!
Mortiris: Just try to remember what I...
(Before Mortiris could finish his statement Maochro bursts through the door to the turret.)
Maochro: Ordici you have someone here for you. The Old Man out front found him lying in a pool of his own blood when he did his rounds. He just spoke you name and fainted. Urmela wants you in the healer’s room now!
[Mortiris waves his permission for Ordici to leave. As he does he helps an out-of-breath Maochro sit down on the ground and forces his head between his legs so the Young Adventurer won't pass out. As we leave the scene we see Ordici running down the stairs with a worried expression on his face.]

Scene 12
[As we last left Ordici we saw him running down towards the Healers room in the Adventurer's clan hall. Let us rejoin our hero from where last we left him.
As Ordici bursts through the door to the healer’s room he notices a poor soul being attended to by the Healer. The young man on the cot is covered in blood and has what looks to be the plague on his body. He is holding what appears to be a horn, and he is unconscious. Rylas is in the Room with the healer.]

Rylas: Ordici! Thank god Maochro found you. This young man said he that he has an important message for you!
Ordici: An important message for me?
Rylas: Last time I looked there was only one 'Ordici of the Adventurers'. Guess it must be you, sport. (Rylas ruffles Ordici's hair.)
Ordici: He looks familiar for some reason. Has he said his name?
Rylas: He only said he must speak with you, and then he passed out.
[Just then the young man on the cot appeared to have awakened. He looks around and spots Ordici.]
Ordicus: Ordici!!! Thank the gods at last. I need your help cousin. Mom got kidnapped by the Morindin!
Ordici: Ordicus!! What are you talking about? Aunt Jezbra and you should be in Riva. What are you doing here?
Ordicus: You don't understand Ordici. Mom and I were going to go to Aldurford to buy some fenling fur gloves for Pa. But as we got up near the end of the Aldurfords a Morindin magician got Ma! I tried to stop him cousin. But there was nothing I could do!
Ordici: Cousin, I will find Aunt Jezbra. Just rest here. The healer will take care of you now. You got to rest. Rylas, I need to speak to Doyen Mortiris now. Can you please get him and Maochro? The last I saw them they were on the North Turret. Please hurry Rylas! My aunt's life may depend on my speed!
(As the scene fades you see Ordici head to his room to get packing on a journey, as Rylas goes in search of Maochro and Mortiris.)

Scene 13
[Last time we left Ordici he was seen running to his room to start packing. As we catch up with our young Hero he is seen on the road from Camaar to the city of Sendar.
As Ordici is walking down a dirt road on his way to Sendar you can see a dust cloud behind him. Ordici, not even bothering to look over his shoulder, is seen alternating between a jog and a brusque walk every hundred steps as a horse and rider catch up with him.]

Maochro: Ordici! Mortiris told me I could find you here. I should have believed him when I went hunting through the clan hall for you.
Ordici: Mao, am I glad to see you. Good you got another horse. I couldn't wait, I had to go to Morindland to get my aunt back. There is no way she can take care of herself!
Maochro: Hold on there a second Ordici. Mortiris told me to give you this, and to remind you that everyone is mortal… Including you!
[As Ordici mounts up and receives the document pouch from Maochro he opens it up and begins to read. As he is reading tears start falling from his eyes. He looks at Maochro and hands him the letter.]
Ordici: I can't believe it. I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye!
Maochro: Well, Looks like we'll miss the party. I don't believe it Mortiris retiring! Well, we better get a move on Ordici if we want to find your aunt!
[Ordici and Maochro make pretty good time to the Aldurfens. It took them about a week to get there due to a horse throwing a show. All the while they ate little and slept little.]
Maochro: Shouldn't be too hard to find tracks, Eh Ordi, I mean the two best trackers in the world are on the trail!
Ordici: Ok Mao. From what Ordicus said his aunt and him were approximately a little north of here. You check North and I will check south.
(As we leave the two Adventurers they split up and begin hunting for tracks. Will they find these tracks, weeks old? Let us pray to the gods my friends that Ordici's Aunt can be found. For with her is a key, a key that will unlock at least one of the mysteries of all Aloria. Though nobody knows it yet.)

top

Scene 14
[As we left Ordici he and Maochro were looking for tracks to the Morindim group that took Ordici's Aunt Jezhara. It has been two days since we left our heroes. Maochro found the tracks and Ordici and Mao were hot on the trail.
Ordici and Mao dismount as they distinctly smell horse manure being burned. They take a peek out from behind a rock formation to see Aunt Jezhara tied to a stake and a Young Magician was stamping out some symbol in the snow. The rest of the group, now recognized as a Questors party is sitting around the campfire drinking something from a wine skin.
]
Ordici: That's Aunt Jezhara all right Mao. I can tell from this distance.
Maochro: Well we need to get down there unseen and save her before that magician finishes.
Ordici: Any idea what he is doing?
Maochro: If we are lucky you won't have to find out. If I told you, you wouldn't believe me. Ever seen a demon?
Ordici: Demons don't exist!
Maochro: They exist trust me. I saw one a couple of years ago. Your still six and ten young Ordici. Just hope you are another six and ten when you see your first.
(After discussing the situation Ordici was going to flank the party and come in from the rear and Maochro was going to charge straight through. When Ordici got into position he gave Maochro a thumbs up. That was when all hell broke loose.
As Maochro and Ordici were withing shouting distance the Magician started mumbling some words and the air next to him began to shimmer like a mirage. All of the sudden a demon with 2 legs 9 arms and a face full of teeth appeared.
Maochro met the first sentry with a downward slash that drove from the base of the shoulder all the way across the body to the navel. Ordici caught one sentry with a thrust through the neck as the sentry turned to see what all the noise was about. As the demon was seen fighting the magician for control Ordici got tripped up. He looked into the eyes of his attacker and knew this was it. All of the sudden the attaker looked down in wonder as a sword sprouted from his chest. Ordici never knew what hit him.
Rising from the ground with a wet spot running down his leggings Mao began to pull Ordici out of the camp amidst the confusion of all the Morindim watching as Aunt Jezhara became food for their god.
)
Ordici: Let me go Mao. We need to save my aunt!
aochro: No lad, we got to get moving. There is nothing that can save your aunt now. Ask Belar to watch over her. Now we got to save our necks.
Ordici: We can still save her Mao. We got to help her!
Ordici was turning to run back into the party with a newfound rage.
Maochro, knowing it was hopeless laid Ordici out with the pommel of his sword. Picking Ordici up like a sack full of grain Maochro started the long walk back to the horses.
Maochro: Sorry lad, Your life is to important to waiste. I hope you will forgive me when we get back to civilization.
(The scene fades as Maochro ties Ordici over his horse’s saddle. Leading Ordici's mare, Maochro leads his Stallion back towards Drasnia.)

Scene 15
[Last time we left our heroes Maochro had just laid out Ordici and tied Ordici to his horse and left the Morindim plains. Now as we catch up with them we can see the gates of Camaar about a league in front of them.
Ordici seems to be arguing about something with Maochro as the picture zooms in. You can see where the dust has turned into a muddy substance in lines under the eyes of Ordici. Maochro is patiently taking the abuse for the moment.
]
Ordici: I am telling you Mao. We could have saved Aunt Jezhara. Why didn't you help me!
(Maochro pulls his mount up and halts young Ordici by grabbing on the reins to his horse.)
Maochro: (Shouting) By all the gods Ordici. It is time to stop this. There was nothing that you or I could do about it. The demon was loose. We couldn't have stopped it. I have never even heard of anybody who could fight a demon WITHOUT another demon. She is dead. Move on. You have your cousin to worry about.
Ordici: But it was my Aunt, Mao. And now Ordicus is going to go and do something stupid, and he is going to expect me to join him.
Maochro: Lad, your cousin is going to have to work it out for himself. You can support him, but you have other obligations to yourself and to your clan!
Ordici: (calming down a bit) You’re right. But how are we going to tell Ordicus?
Maochro: Well tiger, we got about an hour before we have to deal with that. Instead of thinking about what we should have done, or couldn't have done. It is time for you to think about what has been done, and how to frame a report for Urmela and how to break the news to Ordicus.
(The scene fades as Ordici and Maochro resume their trot and head for Camaar’s Northern gate.)

Scene 16
[It has been a few months since Jezhara (Ordici's aunt, and Ordicus' mother) had died. Ordici went through a period of denial. Then he accepted that things can't change. He was starting to feel a little better about himself.
As the scene opens you see that Maochro and Ordici are in the market square in Sendar. They are happily insulting each other as we open this scene.
]
Maochro: Oh yes, Ordici. 'God's Gift to Rangers'!
Ordici: Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean it isn't true. I know more than you!
Maochro: Oh yeah kid. You know so much more than me. You'd think that you were the adult, and I was the child!
Ordici: Child!? You think me a child!? I am six and ten years of age last Erastide. I am a full fledged Adventurer and you, the man that can't get a date, think I am a child?
Maochro: (ruffles Ordici’s hair) Yes, a child. Look here fella-me-lad, when you get to be my age, you will be blessed by Belar if you have only half of my skills.
(Maochro buys something small from a stall selling candies. Listening to the quiet bustle of people moving, it suddenly dawns on him that his young friend hasn't responded in about 10 minutes. Looking down he sees that Ordici is still with him, but Ordici is staring off behind him with his mouth open in awe. Wondering what Ordici could find so fascinating he turns around and sees a young Sendarian lass with her arms full. Suppressing a groan, Maochro tugs on Ordici's shirt and pulls him along.
As Ordici rolls his eyes at his friends bravado he starts to feel like someone is watching him. He raises eyes to scan the crowd. Right there. Across the square is the prettiest young lady he has ever seen. She looks to be a couple of years older than him. Looking at the young girl, Ordici starts to blush a little bit. He knows it is impolite to stare, but he just can't seem to make himself stop. Then he notices that she is returning his stare. Could she actually be interested in such a failure as him? Then it hits him. He is no longer the kid that tried to follow Reidia everywhere. He has seen battle, lost loved ones, and he has even made a place for himself inn the Adventurers. He is no longer a kid, but a young adult.
As Ordici finally builds up the courage to go talk to this beautiful young Sendar he feels a tug on his sleeve. He ignores it. As he is about to walk over to the young girl he is brought up short by a jerk. Turning to confront his assaulter he sees it is Maochro. Then he remembers where he is and who he is with.
)
Maochro: Come on Ordici, we better get moving or Urm will have our heads.
(Lost in thought, Ordici follows Maochro out of town. Before disappearing down the street, Ordici looks back and sees that the girl is still staring at him.)
Ordici (thinking): What an idiot I am. I never even waved!
(We leave our awe-struck hero as he starts down the road to Cammar. If Ordici's head was screwed on right at this time, he would have realized the pretty girl actually follow him and Maochro about a league out of Sendar. He might also have seen her turn back towards Sendar shaking her head.)
