The Re-awakening
As the birds outside the Vale chirped with an excitement
only the spring weather could bring, the sun arose on what should
have been an average day. As the sun peeked in through the windows
to greet Talsharr’s waking eyes, thoughts of a calm, removed
afternoon deep in meditation to learn the secrets of the universe
itself, a familiar voice that had not been present for many years
once again asserted itself.
“Talsharr, wake up and put your pants on. The time has come
again,” it said, in a firm tone.
Talsharr sat up at once, eyes wide open, looking about to find the
source of the voice that disturbed his peaceful slumber. “You
know very well I’m not in the room.”
“Oh, it’s you,” Talsharr said aloud,
disturbing the petite figure sleeping next to him. “Sorry,
dear. Go back to sleep.” he whispered softly.
Ever so careful, he wiggled his way out of bed to his slippers on
the floor. Stepping into them, a sudden rush of puzzlement swept
across his face. Sighing, he sat back down and started to get comfortable
in his bed once again.
“I wasn’t playing around. Get up, and go. You have to
be in Muros in today.”
Without arguing, as the Voice was very persuasive, he put on his
breeches, took up his staff, and headed for the door. Before reaching
the door, he turned briskly about, and headed straight back for
the bed. Delicately, he kissed the woman in bed on the forehead
and fixed her blanket back over her arms. “I’ll be back
in a few days, Sar,” he said softly as he caressed her cheek.
“You’re going to need to make some better travel arrangements.”
“Like a horse?”
“You know what I mean.”
“Oh, that. Right... It’s been a while.”
“I know. It’s like riding a horse. Once you learn, you
never forget.”
“Yeah, but if you fall off a horse, you can get back on. If
I mess this up, it gets a little bit uglier.”
“Just get going. I’ll let you know what’s going
on as you travel.”
Talsharr focused intently for a moment, deeply in thought, before
assuming the shape of a silver wolf. “Wait” he blurted
out before assuming the form of a falcon. “That’s better.”
He spread his golden wings, and flew off into the horizon.

The Testament
As the sun sets into its daily hibernation, the weight of the world
condenses into a single, unique strand of thought. With each passing
second, the strain intensifies as it consumes my state of mind,
sending rippling shockwaves of unbearable discord through the fibres
of my consciousness.
The power that is entwined in my very being is causing the most
distress. The shimmering streams of the very energy of Life circling
everything blinds my eyes and dulls my senses. I can barely withstand
it any longer. I can feel my sanity seeping away with every ounce
of Will I
harness.
I can hear the music in the fabric of existence, an ability that
few have and many study lifetimes for... and I wish for it to cease.
In my addled state of mind, I think of but few things in this mortal
realm that can soothe me, and the one I cherish the most is the
furthest from my grasp.
With each day that passes, I yearn more for her to be around --
to hear her voice and feel her touch. I am pained, and in a constant
state of discomfort...
I can feel the energy growing dim, and I cannot stop it...
I can hear the echoes of eternity growing louder and louder, and
deafening the most sacred and secluded part of my very soul...
