The 1989 Water Mania show was actually the second show I entered, but the first show where it actually looked like something custom.
Soon after the Water Mania show, I ordered a Super Dome top for the truck, and had some graphics sprayed over the factory paint job. The kids in my apartment complex called it the "party truck" because of the confetti like graphics.
After the graphics, I began to learn what it took to win at these shows, and I started working on the stereo, engine detail, and the interior, and I began to win a some shows. Then, in 1991, I won the award for Best Full Custom Ford Ranger in Florida, at Bill Cox's Cruisin' Customz year end show. I repeated the following year, and thru all of this, the truck was a true daily driver, in fact, for almost a year, it was our only transportation.
