“Life is not what happens to you, but how you deal with what happens to you.

You are not the life you live, but how you live the life you live.”

I invite you to take partake on a journey towards self-creation, of working on yourself in such a way

as to overcome that which is limiting and controlling you in order to give birth

to all of your unique human capacities, faculties and potentialities.

Lessons on Self-Management.

How to live your life with both feet on the ground, and your head in the clouds.

Most people do not realize that Life is an Art, which like any other forms of Art needs to be learned.

During the process of growing up we learn a great many things:

·          we are told what we can and what we cannot do,

·          we are bombarded with information, knowledge and facts,

·          we learn to follow external rules, guidelines and expectations,

·          we are instructed in subjects such as biology, mathematics, chemistry, and history.

Aside from those things there is one lesson which is the most essential for us human beings:

How to develop our true and unique individuality and humanity in such a way as to become

a fully-fledged, emotionally secure, reasonable, rational and alive human being.

Sad to say, this is something that we never actively learn. As a result of that a great number of people do not believe in themselves and their own human endowments. They get wrapped up in self-destructive feelings and/- or behaviors, become depressed, frustrated, bored, angry and disillusioned. The reason for why that is that they have lost touch with their own powers of creativity, spontaneity, love and understanding.

Nevertheless, this does not need to be. By taking our development into our own hands, by actively working on ourselves we can regain those inner powers which are innate within each and every one of us.

The greatest freedom of them all cannot be granted, nor is it dependent on the conditions and circumstances of our lives, but it can be generated from within.

True freedom is more than the freedom from restraints, pressure, stress, inequality and obligation, more than the capacity to exercise choice or free will; rather it is the freedom to develop our potentialities and faculties to the highest degree possible, the freedom to think for ourselves, to be creative, interested, reasonable, happy, objective, loving, caring, assertive, understanding, in other words, it is the freedom to become fully human (e) and alive.

Achieving this type of freedom is a matter of personal development which moves us away from the pole of ego, having and defensiveness towards the pole of being ness and openness, away from looking for ideals such as love, meaning, happiness, understanding and acceptance in the world outside towards developing those qualities from within ourselves so they can become part of our general attitude towards ourselves, other people and life in general.

To paraphrase the German humanist and psychotherapist Erich Fromm:

Among the goals of living are the overcoming of greed, hate, illusions, fears, possessiveness, destructiveness, dishonesty, alienation, indifference, lack of authenticity, and to achieve independence, the capacity for critical thought, for giving, for loving.

Man's development requires his capacity to transcend the narrowness prison of his ego,

his greed, his selfishness, his separation from his fellow man,

and hence, his basic loneliness.

This transcendence is the condition for him being open and related to the world; to enjoy all of that is alive, to pour out his faculties into the world around him,

to be interested; in brief, to be rather than to have.”

It is my purpose to help individuals to discover, develop, foster and express their unique human powers. The underlying idea behind my approach is that in order to become fully alive we need to realize and actualize all of our unique human potentialities, capacities and faculties. In order to accomplish this we need to overcome that within ourselves which is controlling and limiting us. Then, and only then can work on ourselves in such a way as to develop attitudes, habits, and behaviors that are conducive to reaching the highest degree of mental and emotional stability, well being and aliveness.
