Glitter tells the story of a young aspiring singer named Billie Frank, who struggles to taste the sweetness of sucess in the tough New York Club scene during the early eighties.  After being abandoned by her alcoholic, drug-addict mother, Billie and her two inseparable friends are flash-forwarded to 1983 where they hover around the hottest clubs, trying to hit it big in the music world one day and to have some fun.  While working as a back-up singer for some untalented disco artist, she meets DJ Dice, a popular club musician who instantly feels atracted to Billie and who later becomes her producer, songwriting partner and boyfriend.  The relationship, however, begins to deteriorate when Billie becomes famous and gains the whole atention from the press and famous producers and singers, so they split up as her career rises up steadily.  A surprising bitter-sweet turn of events changes everything in Billie's life at the end of the story as it elaborates the lesson she learns out of her experience: All that glitters isn't gold.
