Tasawwuf
The Holy Prophet said: That you worship Allah as if you
are seeing Him, and if this stage cannot be attained, then know that Allah is surely watching you.
By this perception, a person's Ibaadat will be executed correctly, with due concentration and devotion.
someone personally supervising his house building will receive such co-operation from the builders which would be unattainable if he was absent.
This then, is Tasawwuf, Tariqat and Sufism in a nutshell - an endeavour at developing the quality of Ihsaan. Those who do not possess this quality can attain it by staying in the company of those who have already attained it.
The three stages of Imaan:
Declaration of Shahadat ("There is no God but Allah & Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah") by the tongue.
Confirmation of faith by the heart.
Expression of faith in pure actions.
This is the stage of Ihsan, described by Prophet as the stage" That you worship Allah as if you
are seeing Him, and if this stage cannot be attained, then know that Allah is surely watching you". This is the stage in which not only lips, but the whole body collectively and all organs individually, submit to the will of Allah. This is the stage when before any act, one asks the questions, What is the Hukim (Injunction) in this matter, or will this action bring the pleasure of Allah or of Shaitan. When one reaches this stage, his hands become that of Allah, he sees from the eyes of Allah, and his tongue praise no one except Allah, and his heart fears no one except Allah.
As Allah the Almighty says
"
Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him.
"
(Hadith Qudsi - Sahih Bukhari )
The above Ahadees clearly shows us that the path & goal of Tasawwuf, Tariqat and Sufism is following Quraan & Sunnah.
Anything against Quraan & Sunnah is not sufism but going astray.
