Dear Beloved Music Lovers, Devoted Fans of Super Talented Star Ethiopian Singer/Vocalist Muluken Melesse

I am your host Bruke Tadesse, and a resident of Boston, Massachusetts, in the USA. Evidently I am a big fan and relentless supporter of Muluken's songs. I have much preference for his song over any others. I very much enjoy listening to his songs and the pleasure I derive from them is boundless and hard to express. The songs and rhythms are mellowing and smoothly flowing. May be, there are some of you out there who have the same exact feeling as I do, I presume. In general, Muluken's songs have great sounding melody, excellent rhythm and lyric that express human thoughts and feelings.

Unfortunately for all fans, fourteen years have gone by since our dear Muluken separated himself from the Music world and has not performed on stage ever-since. He has left behind scores of fans and admirer who miss him so much and yearn for his songs all the time.

In retrospect, Muluken has made great contribution to the Ethiopian music arsenal, has gained so much fame and attracted millions of fans and music lovers all over Ethiopia and abroad. He is highly multitalented, and to say the least, he is one of a kind. Muluken can write lyric, arrange music, play drums as well as sing. Combined skill such as Muluken's are very rarely found among musicians in our country, Ethiopia.

In a very short period of time his popularity soared sky-high, demand and love for his songs grew by leap and bounds among the audience at large. Despite all these enviable position and unabated positive trend going for him, from the point of view of his fans, Muluken prematurely brought his career to a screeching halt, by embracing the Godly and spiritual world of religious life, which until this moment, he is a member of.

Nowadays, considering the multitude varieties of songs that get recorded and fill the airwaves in our country and elsewhere, there are only a handful that measure unto the songs of Muluken. These are the kind of songs that Muluken has left for us to keep and protect as well as we could. This is a big responsibility, therefore these precious gifts from an artist should be cherished and given proper attention that they deserve. Clearly, there should be no doubt that Muluken is among the best of the Ethiopian star singers and artists, who have contributed a lot to the national musical heritage and shown profound love to our culture and our people.

Going back in time, Muluken was only twelve years of age, when he first appeared on stage with the song entitled "Enate Sitewoldgne Metchi Amakerchign" , that beceme a hit song of the time, and that left the audience wondering to see such a young highly talent unfold before their eyes. Subsequently, a few years later in 1976 E.C he recorded his last song entitled "Ney Ney Wodaje". All in all Muluken has recorded seven hit songs on vinyl and cassette tapes. His first hit was on audio cassette entitled " Agrewa Wasa Megena " in spite of seemly early departure from the music scene, Muluken has handed over an incredible amount of musical legacy to us all, present fans and the future generation to come.

Surely enough, these songs are currently in the process of disappearing from music store shelves, joining the ranks of endangered species of Ethiopian contemporary songs. It is even difficult, these days, to find them in the well stocked music places in town, including the Ministry of Information in Ethiopia, where many songs are archived. The originals of the songs are also in such bad shape, and therefore their quality deteriorated severely, evidently by repeated scratches sustained while handling and so on.

Luckily, these fine songs have the chance of being rescued by the current digital technology and can readily be restored to their original created from his previous re-recording. In 1997, his volume 1 song has been digitally processed using the latest technique developed by creative musicians and the result was gratifying. The remaining, other songs need to undergo the same high tech digital recordings process in order to preserve them and make them available the coming generation of Ethiopians. Therefore, it would be the responsibility and major task of all music lovers and especially fans of the renowned highly talented super poplar celebrated artist to join hands and contribute our share towards the revival of these songs which are of immense value to our national musical heritage. I hereby ask you again to join with me in carrying out the restoration and preservation process as mentioned above.

To this end, I have collected and saved the original cassettes of Muluken from the very first to the last one. It is my hope that this puts away a huge preliminary hurdle in achieving our goal. What would be left to do, obviously is the application of latest audio digital technique to restore the voice and eventually combine it with state of the art instrumental skill that many Ethiopian musician are capable of reproducing. Especially those musician live in North America at this instance, I would like to thank and express my appreciation to Ato Wondwossen Haile for having accomplished outstanding work of digitally restoring the Volume 1 song of Muluken in the year 1997.

All told, we should realize that Muluken songs are considered, as one of the musical and cultural property of the Ethiopian people and deserve full protection from any harm or physical damage. All help is to be expected from all concerned citizens and fans of Muluken. The nonexistence of musical museum in our country makes the task of preserving all the more difficult and makes it fall on the hands of ordinary citizens like all of us. With this in mind, I call upon all concerned Ethiopians in general and fans of Muluken in particular to pitch in and make the preservation endeavor. Come true I would very much appreciate any new ideas and advice towards this end. Please feel free to contact me at the address mentioned below. God Bless You !!! Lets all enjoy the beautiful songs by Muluken. Thank you.
