A really great way of getting a lot of good musical theater training in a short amount of time is attending a SUMMER PROGRAM. This is usually done during one or more of the summers during the high school years. A PRE-COLLEGE program is simply one that is associated with a particular university and that university's musical theater department. A NON PRE-COLLEGE program is one that is not associated with any particular university.

As with everything on this site, if there is a program that you know of that does not appear on the list, please contact me and let me know. (Thanks for the updates nytheatermom, Heidi, vickii, and fosselover!)

KEY:

A + next to a program indicates that the program is very intense; the student takes many classes and stays for an extended period of time. These schools may also be fairly selective.

A ~ next to a school indicates that the program may only last for a week or two and that the program is not as intense.
