Good news folks!
Dear Sheela,
Right-wing zealots are coming up empty-handed when they aim to
push discrimination into our nation's Constitution.
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted against the
Federal Marriage Amendment by an overwhelming margin. With 187
Representatives voting against the FMA, the extremists pushing
the amendment fell far short of the two-thirds majority needed
to write discrimination into the Constitution.
You and thousands of committed Human Rights Campaign supporters
have spoken up time and time again, urging our elected
officials to stand on the side of equality and fairness.
Together, our work to combat discrimination has made a
difference.
If you have a moment today, please take the time to thank your
Representative for voting against the FMA. It's not often that
our legislators hear our thanks, and an email or even a phone
call letting them know that you are proud of their decision
will make an impact. To send your email message click here.
If you'd like to make a personal call, dial 202-224-3121 to
reach the Capitol switchboard and ask to be connected to your
Representative.
Thank you so much for standing with the Human Rights Campaign
during this important battle and for your continued commitment
to equality for all Americans.
Warmly,
Joe Solmonese
President
