Obviously many more stories are needed! We feel very
strongly that there is a need for women to hear each others' stories. For
most of our lives we've lived in isolation, invisible in society and to each
other. Each of us has had to define/create an identity for ourselves that
allowed us to maintain personal integrity at the same time as marking out a
space and a life. With no public role models, for most of us this has been
a journey fraught with danger and a great deal of distress.
Being exposed to each others' stories helps us not only
discover our similarities and our differences (highly valuable in itself) but
also helps us to make better decisions based on others' experiences:
"Learn from the mistakes of others: you'll never live long enough to make
them all yourself".
If you'd like to share your own story, please email it, as
a Word document, to Naomi at
chortle@cheerful.com. You don't need to identify yourself. Some
questions you might like to address are:
When did you first realise you were bisexual?
How have you been able to express (or not) your bisexuality in your life?
What problems relating to bisexuality have you solved or not been able to solve?
What does your bisexuality mean to you?
To offer stories, as well as book reviews or other
items of interest, please email me on
chortle@cheerful.com. Please
note that stories featuring graphic sexual material will not be
published. There are a multitude of sites providing that type of
content, and this site is concerned with the many other types of issues
and challenges experienced by bisexual women.
