Frank J. Chaloupka Sr. Family
Frank Chaloupka was born in the Hradec Kralove (Konnigratz in German) region of Bohemia (currently the Czech Republic) probably in or near the village of Castolovice, around 1839. He emigrated to the US around 1855 with his parents and 7 siblings. The family first settled in Monmouth Township, Jackson County, Iowa (map). By 1860, Frank and his brother John were living on a neighboring farm (the Diedric Sieben farm) working as farm laborers. On 28 November 1861, Frank and his brother John had a double wedding at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque, Dubuque County, IA. Frank married Anna Secora and John married Rosa Novotny. Together, Frank and Anna had 13 children. In 1870, Frank and Anna were living in Oxford Mills, Jones County, IA in the household next to Frank's parents, according to the 1870 census. By that time, the couple had 4 children. By 1880 the couple had moved to Wilber Township, Saline County, NE where they remained until their deaths. Frank passed away 21 December 1917 (obituary) on the same day as his brother Anton (news article) and was buried in Wilber, Saline County, NE. Anna passed away a year later on 10 April 1919 (obituary), and was also buried in Wilber, Saline County, NE. Children of Frank and Anna:
