Combat and Roleplay Rules

1. The Official Definition of God Moding:

"Any character that is capable of powers and abilities that are absolutes and completely unstoppable."

This is the only definition that will be used for this site. "God moding isn't just ignoring attacks, remember, it's playing something of an impossible or inconceivable power level and expecting it to receive positive interaction with others. Why are you playing it? To just control others? To say "Hah! You can't hurt me!" or "See? My power is cooler than yours...", "I'm smarter and better than you." If so, then yes, it is godmoding. If there is no depth other than the age and the abilities, then it is considered god-moding. Godmoding is a tendency that plagues every role playing channel. It is, essentially, when a character is so powerful, that it is completely unstoppable, or completely incapable of being injured that we have to put a stop to it. Also if you Ignore anyone you are suspect of god-moding, don't argue with them. Sinking to the same ridiculous levels for the point of godding or self-aggrandizement is useless. Why bother? They don't care, and won't modify themselves. Turn to an Op for help instead.
God-moding is a kickable or bannable offense if you are apprehended by our Op's. Every player will receive a warning to modify their character to adjust for the standards of Role-play at the Vampyres Haven before being removed from the channel. You will be given the chance to correct any imperfections in your character.

2. No instant deaths, nor are Auto-hits permissible at all.

"Any strike or attack, worded in such a way, that leaves no options available for the other character to react in any way other than to take damage according to the attack."

Fighting is allowed in the room if in character.
As it often breaks the Masquerade, it will likely be interrupted by other characters, so taking the fight outside or to a side channel is recommended. If you go to a side channel to fight, a "Log" MUST be recorded for the battle. So best is for you all Involved to call an Op from the main channel to prove it took place, and to record the outcome,
plus it can earn you experience points. The log will be made available to all the other ops afterward. If you fight in the channel, a log is not necessary but highly recommended, and the fight will be monitored by the ops for auto-hits and godmoding. If you're called for either, don't argue, just rephrase your attack and re-post it. If you refuse to reword your attacks and try to continue the fight, it will be halted and you will be kicked. If you still refuse to fight responsibly, you will be banned for 24 hours.
Ops have the final say on these, don't argue. It will only get you kicked.

3. Description of your characters actions

A basic attack (i.e.. limbs/body parts that one is aiming for, or the actual attack itself) should be easy to read from the action. Descriptions should not be cluttering. Descriptions should describe, either the fighter's appearance, movements or the physical effects of the attack. If you need an essay afterwards to explain your attack or dodge, then its not clear enough.

4. Death of a Character

We do expect you to take hits if you get into a fight. If your character is killed and you believe it was unfairly done, send the log of the fight to an op IMMEDIATELY. No waiting. (What? You didn't log the fight because it was in the main channel? Word to the wise here, LOG EVERY FIGHT YOU ARE INVOLVED IN.)

5. Colors OTHER than dark red, dark green, dark gray, dark blue, teal, black and purple are not permitted.

If you use brighter colors, you will be warned once, then kicked if you persist.

6. Swearing is permissible IC

Even then should be kept to a tolerable level If your character does swear occasionally, that's fine but we don't want to see words like "Cunt", its just awful. Keep a handle on it people, you're smarter than that.

7. Excessive OOC (Out Of Character) will warrant a temp ban.

The ops will state when there has been enough OOC and will declare an OOC channel open for issue discussion. If normal RP is not resumed and the OOC keeps on going in the channel, you're out. Don't try to argue, you were warned.

8. Dice or no dice is here the question

While we are trying to make this channel a full dice channel, it is not yet a must until we are sure everyone knows how to roll in what situation. Though be advised, we will run more Storylines or Campains with dice then without and at every end of the game, everyone gains experience points if your character did well and did not act stupid, which you can use to buy more abilities, powers or save them.

9. We do wish to remind you

That, while these rules may seem constraining and very limiting, this is still a game. And games are meant to be fun. We, the ops, aren't here to throw rocks from on high. We're here to help guide the role-playing for the enjoyment of as many people as we can. If you have a question, or a VALID complaint, please don't hesitate to msg an op. State your question or complaint in a calm and respectful manner, and we will do our best to see that your question or complaint is addressed as quickly and as well as we can. OOC again that same night you will be banned for 24 hours.
