Alder Tree from Reigate Priory pond outflow, June-July 2000.
back to proximity paintings

The veiw for the 4th painting is from a lost island. I sat on the manhole cover with water flowing around it.Somehow this manhole cover assembly has since been removed.

Developing what was learned from the previous painting, the sky and far bank were painted first. The main lesson learned here concerned the unwanted transparency of certain paint colours, as well as the study of reflections.

Of those who commented about the unusual location was a young boy with his mum. He asked, "how did you get over there"? I told him that I paid a giant, who was coming back later to get me off. He was young enough to think twice about my reply.

This painting was started on what would have been my mums 68th birthday. I gave it to my dad.

It has been populated using an animated .gif, see:- alderonimaton.
