Stuttering is a complex disorder that interferes with speech. There are perhaps as many different patterns of stuttering as there are people who stutter. There is no single cause, but current research suggests a connection between stuttering and neurological coordination of the speech mechanism. Stuttering tends to run in families and affects more men than women. Stuttering is influenced by behavioral factors but it is NOT caused by an emotional problem or a nervous disorder. And it is not the direct fault of the parents or the child. For more information check out
