The guidelines draw on an evidence-based approach to best practice. They outline the evidence for different interventions and the economic implications of different options. They are not intended to be prescriptive, but provide information on risks and benefits of the various interventions. They focus particularly on: anticoagulation; antiplatelet therapy; and carotid endarterectomy. These interventions address risk factors that are highly specific to stroke and that place people at especially high risk of stroke. [PDF 124p 797kb]
