- Beating Textured Heart - An animation of a heart beat.
The equations of large deformation elasticity theory have been solved on a 3D finite element model of the ventricular myocardium. The solution uses
orthotropic passive material properties only. The endocardial surfaces of the ventricles are rendered with 3D volume textures.
- Body Surface Potential during Heart Beat - A simulation of a
heart beat. The forward problem of electrocardiography is solved using a high order coupled finite/boundary element torso model. The input heart activation
sequence is approximated as a moving dipole centered in the heart. The trajectory of this dipole is obtained from a Frank vectorcardiogram taken from a
healthy volunteer at Green Lane Hospital, Auckland. Shown is computed body surface map (left) and epicardial map (right). Also shown as an indication of the
time sequence is a computed standard lead II.

robot which can "lock" on to a position on the heart surface may work. Initially the robot is fixed in space, the heart is beating and the view is
from behind the robot. Then the view pulls out to show the whole heart. Then the robot locks on to the heart. The view now moves back to behind the robot.
The robot is moving with the heart and the view is fixed in space. Lastly is the surgeons view from the robot. The centre of the view is stationary. In
principle this allows surgery, such as bypass surgery, without stopping the heart.
