Surprising Acupuncture Side Effect

Jeannie Mitchell spent four years living with migraine headaches. She tried doctor after doctor, medicine after medicine. In desperation, she turned to Melissa Yang of Integra Acupuncture in Gahanna.

Through acupuncture, she not only got some relief, Jeannie also got a surprise. As Melissa, a licensed acupuncturist with a Chinese medical degree, used the ancient Asian needles to ease Jeannie's migraines, Jeannie noticed that her wrinkles began to smooth out. Friends told her that she looked years younger.

Melissa says acupuncture can erase some wrinkles, by balancing the body's energy and increasing blood flow, "not just only the face, but the double chin or the neck."

Her husband and partner, Tom Turpin, says acupuncture stimulates nerves and muscles, and boosts collagen without burns, peels, or injections.

"It's a very safe, natural procedure," he says, "that's minimally invasive."

Melissa says it takes around ten weekly treatments to see a change, but it should last several years with only a touch-up session every six months.

Dr. Tim Treece, 10TV's top rated plastic surgeon from Docs Rate Docs, says there's nothing in the scientific literature to support this, but if acupuncture decreases pain or stress, it could decrease some wrinkles, too.
