About Us
Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get donated items to the children?
Due to the recent changes with the United States Postal Service, we are unable to affordably ship needed supplies abroad. Needed items are purchased directly in the country.

The exception to this is sending supplies to Uganda, where we are able to utilize a free container shipped directly to Uganda so it costs us nothing to send supplies to this orphanage.

How do you know the children get the items we send?
Most items are hand delivered to the orphanage, either by a local volunteer who delivers the shipment or by a visiting family.

Are you a Christian based organization?
Packages of Hope is not affiliated with any particular religious belief. We are a group of volunteers who feel passionately about helping children around the world. It doesn't mean we aren't individually spiritual people, it's just collectively we have chosen to keep religious teachings out of our organization.

If my church supports Packages of Hope, can religious materials be sent with our donations?
We are unable to accept or include any type of religious materials. Many orphanages would ban our services and not allow us to continue our goal of offering help if we tried to push any religious beliefs on the children. Also, this is not what we do and our bylaws restrict this type of activity.

How do you decide what orphanages to work with?
Our main requirement for sponsoring a specific orphanage is finding a local contact with whom we can communicate easily and build mutual trust.

Is my cash donation tax-deductible?
Yes, Packages of Hope, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Any contributions you make will be tax-deductible.

Is anyone on the staff paid?
We are all volunteers and even pay for our own travel to visit orphanages. Our efforts are gladly done out of our love for all of the children!
