General Voting Day
-
General Voting Day is May 16, 2001.
-
Voting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Pacific time.
-
Employees who want to vote are entitled to four consecutive hours free
from employment during voting hours on General Voting Day for the purposes
of voting.
-
If you are registered, you will receive a "Where to Vote" card. Your
"Where to Vote" card will provide you with the name and location of your
voting place.

Advance Voting
-
If you are unable to vote on General Voting Day, you can vote at Advance
Voting.
-
Advance Voting is May 9, 2001 to May 12, 2001 from noon to 9 p.m.
-
Advance Voting is available to any voter.
-
If a voter is unable to attend an Advance Voting or General Voting
-
opportunity, contact Elections BC toll free 1-800-661-8683 or
-
Hearing Impaired (TTY) toll free 1-888-456-5448 for other options.
-
During an election, there are additional voting opportunities available
to people who are unable to attend either Advance Voting or their assigned
voting place on General Voting Day. The following special provisions ensure
that all voters are given the opportunity to cast their ballots.
Special Voting Opportunities
-
Special Voting opportunities may be held in extended care facilities,
hospitals or at remote work sites. At Special Voting, Elections BC brings
the ballot box to those of you who cannot attend other voting opportunities.
You can contact Elections BC or your District Electoral Officer if you’d
like to get more information about Special Voting opportunities in your
electoral district.

Absentee Voting
-
Absentee Voting allows you to vote at any voting opportunity — even
outside your electoral district. You can vote at any voting place in the
province during a provincial general election. For more information, you
can contact your nearest District Electoral Officer.
Alternative Absentee Voting
-
Alternative Absentee Voting allows you to vote outside a scheduled voting
opportunity — even if you’re away from the Province — during a provincial
general election.
-
If you cannot attend a voting place, you can vote by either:
-
obtaining an Alternative Absentee Voting package from a District Electoral
Officer. You must apply for your voting package by 4 p.m. (Pacific time)
on General Voting Day, and return your completed voting package before
8 p.m. (Pacific time) on General Voting Day; or
-
voting in a District Electoral Officer’s office during a provincial
election during regular business hours, up until 4 p.m. (Pacific time)
on General Voting Day.
