This is the main floor. This is a part of the lamp you can see, though, through the balusters. The floor is supposed to have a handmade stone look. I used the back of the glass to get the multi-color look. I think it's Wissmach, though I could be wrong. I cut notches out for the posts, which made it a real pain to foil. Later I found out that it was a waste of time because the white rails hid most of it.
The tricky part was getting the diamonds to land in the center. I had to leave enough space for the rails, post, outer trim, and so forth. So when I made it, the pattern looked fairly uneven, until the other parts were attached.
This view shows the main floor, outer trim, posts, and stairs. All the white parts are going to have an upper rail, with pink balusters. The only open part will be the stairs, as you can see it will be real tricky to get it cleaned in the future. Only half of the post is showing. There will be another section on top of the post (a metal tube), which will sit on top of the post. I put a grommet on top of each post, to give it a chamfered look. The header will sit on top of the metal tube.
The wide open space in the middle is where the lights will be going. The inner perimeter will have the main walls. Each wall will have a window which will have a part of the scene, which will look like a room. Once the walls are completely done - walls, window edges, and windows per side - then I can install them. The hardest part will be making sure that the windows line up with the trees that is pictured on the dome. Each tree will have a connecting base part (trunk and container). I have to line up the tree's color and shading in each window. There are 12 windows to do this with, which makes for an infinite amount of mistakes.
This shows the corner detail above the steps. The glass is Armstrong aqua iridescent. 1/4" strips of glass make up a weaved pattern. They interweave and overlap in the corner. The walls will go on top of the main floor. There's an extra 1/8" added so the floor will be centered properly. You can see the extra space in this shot. When the wall is up the aqua will be touching the curved wall.
