A Heart of Glass

I watched you, from a distance,
Afraid to get too near,
You've never seen me, standing there,
Because of my own fear.

I've had the urge to hold you,
To make you feel, secure,
But, fear, it keeps me far away,
From the pain, I can't endure.

Too long, I've stood and watched you,
I've seen your grief and pain,
I want so much to hold you,
Your love, I wish to gain.

I've seen your graceful beauty,
Admired your mystical air,
I've seen your heart, when broken,
This is the pain we share.

Someday, I hope you'll hear me,
And let me touch your heart,
But now, it's hard to tell you,
While we're both, still torn apart.
