Thoughts

We gather here with heavy hearts, to say farewell, today.
To one who’s been there, by our side, and helped us on our way.

The lesson’s that we learned by you , Will remain within our hearts,
As if those things you taught us, were carved on granite charts,

So many things we remember, the values that you shared,
The love you showed, your sincerity, and knowing that you cared.

To reach your hand, to others, and make them feel desired,
You never said, “not today,” even when you were tired.

You always had a simple smile, and something good to say,
No matter what the day or time, you had the time to pray.

Faults were not an issue, you saw the brighter side,
You’d always know when things were wrong, those, we could not hide.

You took the things, that were handed you, and made them work, anew,
Those hands of yours were tools for God, your heart was all his, too

The tools we now need daily, just so we can survive
You gave them to us freely, and they’ll help us through our lives.

Enriched and blessed, are we all, Just because you were there.
And I’m thankful to the Father, that with us, you, He’d share

When you shouted, “Ship Ahoy,” We knew your time was near.
We realized then, you were going home, to the place you held, so dear.

Even though, we have heavy hearts, and many tears we’ll shed,
We will cling to one another, because we love our Dad.
