What Phyl Wants to do for a Living

Writing, Writing, Writing!

Phyl is an aspiring novelist, having written several fantasy novels "just for fun" over the years, but now having written a couple of novels for serious consideration by publishers.

The most current novel is tentatively called Helix. It incorporates Phyl's studies in mythology into a modern political and psychological setting.

Phyl is also in the process of writing a historical novel for kids or teenagers. It chronicles the adventures of five kids who are transported by an ancient scroll, back in time to the Persian wars. Three of them end up in Athens, while two find themselves with the Spartan army at Thermopylae. All of them witness the miraculous defeat of the Persians by the armies of ancient Greece.

Non-Fiction

Phyl also has aspirations to write popular non-fiction as well as more technical non-fiction. For example, read the following essay, discussing the question of whether science fiction in all its forms fulfills the role that was once performed by myth and ritual.
