CHALLENGED COMPANIONS is for those pets and animals with "special needs." Whether crippled, blind, or with a health problem of another nature, we hope to spotlight these creatures who, while they present a challenge at times, show us so much courage and determination.
Read about this amazing little deaf "angel" and the joy she has brought!
This is my Shakespeare and Juliet..both were born deaf not by choice but due
to unknowledgable breeding..Shakespeare and Juliet have both earned their
CGC..Shakespeare is four and Juliet is 18 months. I got Shakespeare from a
shelter at 13 weeks and Juliet from a "breeder" at 10 weeks..They both know a
mixture of ASL and made up signs..what a wonderful relationship we have..here

As mew know, we have quite a few special needs kitties., and have also lost 2 this month, and one in November. We still have several. Most notable, Sapphire Pollyann, and her brofur Charley B. They were both born with "eye Problems". Sapphy had a condition in which her eyelids were inverted, causing her eyelashes to grow into her eyes. We did have it corrected, with a surgical tuck, but she is furry cross eyed, and cannot see well. Brofur Charley had one eye which had the eyelid actually attached to the eyeball. The vet peeled it off, and he seems fine now, but is almost blind. They both seem to be healthy other than that, but it is hard to say. Primrose was there little sisfur, The mom's second litter. She was born with only three paws, and may have had ofur problems. We lost her in November. She was only 7 months old. Her two litter mates, Starberry and Loganberry seem to be fine and healthy kittens. Little Flower was a stray which we had for only one year. We lost him on January 16th. He was 14 months old, and only weighed two pounds. Among ofur things he had a condition which prevented his body from digesting and using the nutrients in his food. He ate all the time, but nefur grew. We have raised quite a few special needs kitties in our time.
