Point Of You Interview:

Enter the world of local melodic-hardcore sensation Point Of You. A 4-peice band

that call the Mornington Peninsula home. The current line-up is Brendon Mellere with Vocals and

Screams, Michael Clark on Guitar, Josh Cahill on Bass plus backing Vocals and Screams, and last

but definitely not least, Josh's very talented brother Zac Cahill on Drums. The band started

hitting the local scene this year winning over crowds and belting out some of the most powerful

tunes you'll ever hear from the Peninsula. I spoke to Brendon about the Band and it's inner-workings.

                                            TA: Terry Appleby

                                            BM: Brendon Mellere

TA: So how are you today?
BM: Yeah I'm not too bad at all.

TA: How did Point Of You come around?
BM: Michael and I were in a shitty little band at school, and we got kicked out because I started

screaming, and we wanted to get a bit heavier. Then we heard that Zac and Josh were looking for

a Guitarist and a Singer... and well yeah the next thing I know Zac rings me and says "I heard you

can sing man do you wana try out?" and I said "only if Michael can try out too"... and yeah we

                                            jammed and we started.

TA: You've built up a fair fan-base in the short time you've been around; did you expect the

                                            response to be so good?
BM: I didn't really care man... I just wanted to get out there and have fun but yeah I guess I didn't

think we'd get such a rad response.

TA: How was the experience of recording for Ballads By The Bay 2?
BM: Yeah it was fun, it was just a real fucking rush so I didn't really get everything I could of out

of it, but it was still rad.

TA: Where do you get your inspiration from when writing lyrics?
BM: It's about personal shit that I've been through personally... and I just want to get it out and

that's the one thing I love about screaming, you can get so much anger out.

TA: When did your love affair with music begin?
BM: I've always been really into music, just never realized I could sing until about year 10 and

I didn't figure out I could scream until about a year ago.

TA: What's your most memorable experience during a show?

BM: Probably watching people sing along to our songs or Jacko going nuts for us.

TA: At one stage there was a fair bit of shit floating around about you being in both Point Of You

and Hijack The Hearse, what made you choose to stay in both bands?
BM: I always wanted to stay in both... because Hijack are all my mates and i love P.O.Y.... but

some people didn't like me being in 2 bands... but I assured them that i would stay committed

qq                                        and I wouldn't ditch them... but P.O.Y. are always going to be my main priority.

TA: When you're not practicing, writing or playing in the band, what do you do to pass the days?
BM: I write lyrics or work on the website and talk to people on the net... and I try as hard as I

can to spend as much time with Erin as possible.

TA: I won't take up any more of your time, because I'm sure that at 2am you've got better things

to do, so finally , what does the future hold for you and the band?
BM: We are just going to keep playing and having fun I guess and just hope that we can make a

living out of it... because we suck at everything else... well I suck at everything else.
