The Cupid Initiative Story:

The Cupid Initiative: Emo Emo Emo. Terry caught up with Cal to discuss the story of how this

band came together, fell apart, and then came back together.

Well once apon a time there were 4 merry men who built a dream, a dream that envisioned

themselves as the biggest bunch of Emo pansy's in the world. We all loved music, we all play

instruments. We all listened to good music like Rock And Roll shit and Screemo, but we played

Emo... was kinda strange I guess.
So anyways, these 4 men set out on a quest much like Lord Of The Rings. Well James, Joel and I

                                            knew each other since Prep.
So Jimi started on drums, we were a piece of three. Then we decided to get Jimi on guitar

because he is the one with the good looks, and lets face it... the drums hide the players face. So

we met Tyson at a show or something, he came along and drummed his arse off for a while, but

we proved too Emo for him, so he decided to call it a day. Which felt pretty bad, but that's when

we began to really write some half decent music. During this time we had recorded 'Amy' at Back

Beach Studios with Kane Hiberd (Get Up Records Guru), and then with Tyson we recorded 6 tracks

at Jets Studios. A lot of these songs have now been played on Triple JJJ and other stations... but

                                            anyway, where was I?
So Tyson quit, then Matt came along. Matt has been good friends with us for ages. He is the opposite

of Tyson, it's funny. Tyson is straight-edge and vegan and stuff... which we all respect a lot, and Matt

is a chain smoker, loves a beer with a well done steak... swears, spits, smells, he is a legend.
So we played with him one day in his little studio which is out the back of his house, and he was really

enthusiastic and seemed to anticipate songs, songs which he had never heard before. So now we have

Matt, and a solid line-up... hopefully this one isn't destined to fail. We are all happy now with one

another, and with our music. We can just have fun now, play a live Rock And Roll show... and just party

away. That's what music should be like, just a lot of fun.
