In his after-action report, Maj. Charles Mudge reported 1 soldier killed, 3 wounded, and 2 missing.
According to Alonzo Quint's official history of the 2nd Massachusetts Infantry, Sgt. Allen A. Nutting (Company D) was shot in the abdomen and died the following day. Wounded were Edwin F. Nason (also of Company D) and Lorenzo Powers (F). The third wounded man was Henry Edwards (B), who was taken prisoner. Two other men--Charles W. Holmes (B) and Thomas Lyndon (I)--were also listed as having been taken prisoner. So, while the totals given by Mudge and Quint agree, the circumstances slightly differ.
