Club plans for 1996 The sHOw Modular Model Railroad Club met at Park Mammoth Lodge on December 2, 1995. The meeting was called to order by vice-president David Boyd. Charles Hogan reported that John Oakes, Paul Schnoes and he met with Dr. Steve House at the Center for Economic Development on 31W in Bowling Green. A video of the Bowling Green depot Train EXPO was presented and plans were made for the Center for Economic Development to host a train EXPO next spring. Hogan and Schnoes and a rep- resentative from the Center met with the Bowling Green city and Warren County school superintendents. They were receptive to our proposal and fourth grade and gifted and tal- ented students will be bussed to the EXPO. Dates for the EXPO are Friday, April 26th, Saaturday, April 27th and Monday, April 29th, 1996. Hogan has contacted William White and CSX Transportation will present Operation |
Lifesaver about railroad cross-
ing safety. In addition, Operation Pride will show "Beauty of the Southland" a video made this past summer focusing on the L & N presence in Bowling Green. Joe Bailey suggested that all superinten- dents from the BRADD area be invited to the EXPO. Hogan added that invitations should be sent to the private schools in Warren County as well. An arti- cle for a model railroad maga- zine is under way and all mem- bers should be present at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday April 27th for a group portrait. We need much help on this big EXPO. Mark your calendars now! The club will meet informally each Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. to run trains, see videos, slide shows, do work- shops. Call a member to find out the location which will change from week to week. The first week members met at the home layout of John Oakes and ran trains and learned how to model limestone outcropping using ceiling tile and sculptamold. video is sched- uled for the second week. The club is expanding its activities and meetings in an attempt to broaden our offerings and attract additional members. Railfan photo trips are being planned for this spring. |
