The Grupo 7 was initially based in the "Los Cerillos" base but was then transferred to ???.
During the events of September 11, 1973 the Hawker Hunter that bombed the Presidential Palace (La Moneda) were from this unit.
In 1976 this group reequipped with 14 F-5E and 2 F-5F transferring all of the remaining Hawker Hunters to the Grupo 8.
