The Grupo 8 receives at the end of 1973 12 Hawker Hunter from Grupo 7.

At the end of 1976 it also receives the remaining Hawker Hunter from Grupo 7.

This will be the last unit to fly the legendary Hawker Hunters.

This Group reequipped with the Mirage Elkán on during 1995 and is the only unit operating the type.

Grupo 8 is based at Cerro Moreno near Antofagasta.
