BEAUTIFUL LADY
The men and
one lady of the MMM pose before CAROLYN,
duing a trip to the Midland/Odessa airport on December
6th and 7th, 1994. We were there to pay homage to a beautiful
lady. She was fated to crash in the semi-arid plains of
Midland/Odessa Texas, on September 28, 1995. The unfortunate
crash came only a day before she was scheduled thrill the crowd
at a huge CAF airshow and resulted in the deaths of all five
persons on board. The Full N.T.S.B. Report on this tragic accident is
available here.
A RE-BIRTH
About that time a
brillant pilot and international acrobatic champion named Kermit
Weeks, began a very special restoration project. His plan was to
re-construct a B-26 from the salvaged remains of three Marauders
which crash-landed in the Yukon in 1941. Carrying on the work
begun by David Talichette and assigning the restoration to Aero
Traders Company of Chino California , his dream was eventually
realized and today Kermit Weeks' CHINO is believed to be
the worlds only fully functioning, airworthy B-26 in the world.
