**one more thing....Always extend your borders. Australia has Siam;
North America has Iceland, Kamchatka, and Venezuela; Africa has
Brazil, South Europe, and Middle East; Europe has Greenland, Middle
East, and North Africa; Asia has a bunch, too. This way you can
fortify your own borders as well as hold off an opponent from
getting a bordering continent. It may make your "surface area"
larger, but it's generally worth it.
